As long as people like Seki sensei are alive, the memory and soul of old Japan will be carried into the next generation to be appreciated

Just watched you with Shogo, on his channel and yours. It's helped us understand your Ryu more and nothing has made more sense than what you said. I pray we can learn under your tuition one day. Take care. Stay safe 🙏 Kate and John (England)
Can we get a chance to see this style vs HEMA? That would be incredible

HEMA does not respect its sources much better than the SCA. Sparring should be a means to the end of understanding the historical techniques, rather than the study of the historical techniques being just an excuse to spar.

Hello, seki sensei i am charles from lebanon and i have watched you with shogo san i wonder if i can learn with you and be a student, i can try and learn japanese if it helps because i dont speak the language yet sensei, hope you can reply sir, resoect and thank you so much for your knowledge
Sensei, katana is too easy for you. I challenge you to learn English and publish your videos in English for many more views, customers to monetize your efforts. Lots of people speak English, only a few can handle a blade so gracefully like you. Learning English should be easy for a sensei like you.

This is a tremendous legacy, if it is indeed a true center of all the modern tamed offshoots. I had hoped but doubted that it still existed, I thought all the traditions of the Japanese sword were faded or disconnected from their past. The things I have seen from this school are the most plausible and intriguing. Like the true art of the western rapier, there is great beauty in the intense practicality of this art that is informed by the all-or-nothing.

形を身体操作を意味するとしか教えられず、相手を置いて形を稽古しないとこうなるのかな?

Shogo's sword drawing and cutting skills look quite good but his sword figthing skill is pretty bad. He fights like a total beginner here.

I feel like in this kind of things he need to be less polite, it does looks like he's limiting himself because he's in front of a master
@VNSnake19992 жыл бұрын
@@mailais3403 Maybe, but as a HEMA longsword practitioner and former Kendoka, I see him made a lot of rookie mistakes.

Maybe because he is. Actual sword fighting is not equals Iaido. Iaido is just kata. Kendo, Kenjutsu and Iaido are all respectively different from each other. The only commonality is historical roots.

Honestly, he is a complete beginner at sword fighting. I think this video is a very good example of showcasing how one can practice forms for years and years, but be completely incapable of performing the techniques when faced with any form of resistance. Even he himself notes he couldn't do the things he has practiced once under pressure.

Let's give his opponent some credit, it is hard to attack openings when your opponent doesn't give them.
