The same goes for Zhang; I always think that if he were either American, British (or even Commonwealth for that matter) or Mexican he would have had more opportunities to become a world champion. Somehow fighters from other parts of the world have to watch as multiple rivals from those parts of the world seem to find themselves in title contention way more often. Of course the sport is bigger in North America and the Commonwealth leading to a bigger quantity of quality fighters, but still I can’t shake this observation when it comes to fighters like Zhang.

To me, it’s all about Zhang’s gas tank. He’s always had stamina issues. If Zhang doesn’t end it early on, Parker may have the edge in the 2nd half of the fight.

Excellent preview, thanks for putting it together. I absolutely love both bouts set for 3/8/24. I agree with your prediction for Parker vs Zhang. Zhang is a scary good southpaw with serious power in both hands, and that sneaky right hand is a huge problem for any heavy. I would hate to see Parker viciously ko'd, and maybe he won't be, but it's hard to visualize Joe evading hard flush lefts for 12 rounds. Big power punching heavyweights with decent cardio and skills, and 12 round experience, are not easy to predict. One shot can totally end it at any time. I wouldn't feel to bad about mis-predicting heavies, we all do at times. Big congrats on #300, your work is very appreciated.

Zhilei Zhang vs. Joseph Parker for the WBO Interim HW Title will be a good fight! If Parker is healthy and has done his homework on boxing big south-paws, I will bet Parker wins a decision against Zhang. Parker has collected a lot of valuable ring experiences and fought fine opposition in the ring so he have a great chanse to win here. But he must be gritty in this fight like he was with Wilder and don't get clean hit by that big left!

Gotta agree with your pick. Zhang isn't a one trick pony like Wilder, and has much better defense to boot. If he keeps his jab going and prevents Parker from storming inside, he'll KO him before the midway point of the fight.

it's going to be interesting to see this, as long as joseph can go over 6 rounds of the fight, and give zhang a hard time like he did to deontay, than i'm sure jospeh will have no problem winning, because of zhang age and weight that mite tire him if they go the distance, or probably 6 rounds, if he doesn't attack zhang early in the fight, because if he does, zhang will have his day with joseph.

Congratulation's on 300 episodes, hopefully you have at least another 300 in ya, I'm going for Parker on points here, I know he can take a punch and he took a lot from Joyce before getting KO'd late in the fight coming in too heavy and he had an illness during camp think exhaustion caught up with him that night, not discounting Zhang completely as the cliché say's " It only takes one big shot" to end a fight at heavyweight, but I'm going with the younger faster guy Parker.

Would be crazy if Parker beats Zhang. Styles make fights but sometimes you do just assume that since Joyce beat Parker and Zhang beat Joyce, Zhang should beat Parker, but that might not be the case… If Parker pulls it off that’s a funny case of Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Speaking as someone who's also fired up for the AJ-Ngannou fight, Zhang-Parker is definitely gonna steal the show. It's a fight between two heavyweights with clashing styles and great momentum behind them, what's not to love! Our predictions are pretty much the same. I've picked Zhang to win via T/KO in rounds 5-7, and I'm pretty confident in his ability to get it done. That said, this is very much a winnable fight for Parker, but it's gonna be much harder to do than the fight against Wilder. From my perspective, him winning is gonna hinge entirely on how his chin still holds up and if he can stick to a plan after getting hit with some big bombs ("Everyone has a plan til they get punched in the mouth," after all). As you pointed out, Zhang ain't Wilder, he's got heavy power in both hands and they can come outta nowhere, so in my opinion it's very much a matter of when and not if Parker gets hit with some big punches this time. Also congrats on the 300th episode Rummy! Here's hoping the milestone puts some extra luck behind your prediction, and to the next 300 videos!

Feel like the importance of it is being hugely overlooked in this fight especially. In general it's overlooked in discussions about Zhang, actually, and it even seems like a forgotten art at times. Just one of many things that makes you wish Zhang had been managed better over the years. Almost brings a tear to the eye to think of all the absolute bangers we missed out on just because of piss poor management. But hey, he's sure making up for lost time, at least! 🥊
