I've had the same experience many times. I use a gimbal and find I'm just not happy with some of the results then run through CB and it's great. And yes, the gimbal is still worth it because you won't have to crop as much. As always, Brandon, great work. Thanks.

Hi Brandon, a great review as always! Just one question. When you shot the footage in this video, did you leave the IBIS ON or OFF? Asking because even though it is the best practice to leave it OFF for the catalyst browse, I wonder if we could get away with IBIS ON and decide whether to use catalyst in post.

Same with the Crane M2... Though I use it with a tiny RX0 II, I have it in a Smallrig cage to make it heavier, yet the footfall shakes are still seen no matter how i balance the thing... But running the video files through Catalyst Browse did help polish everything... Great video, it really highlights why manual exposure is important

Two questions…. As I understand it, to use catalyst browse effectively, you have to shoot at a high frame rate (60fps or higher). Assuming you ARE shooting at a high framerate, why do you still need ND filters? (Assuming your shooting 120 shutter)

Have you try using IBIS instead of post gyro stabilization with the m3? I wonder if in-camara stabilization is good enough to counter the jitter, so you don't have to go thru an extra step in post.

Was thinking the same, one of the reasons why I'm seriously thinking about getting the A7SIII is because the IBIS looks so good and would spare me from doing any post-production stabilization

If you use catalyst browse (I saw that it’s free) are you still able to edit that video with say like a Final Cut Pro… I’m looking at getting the a7siii so I’m trying to see what all the cost of everything is altogether … I really want the crane m3 for b roll and to shoot ads for my businesses .. although I’m also considering just getting a mini drone .. Also for the trick where you said you had to invert the camera another creator ( I believe Jason Vong) said he just removed that one piece , I think it’s called the view finder? Or the eye piece? Eye cover? Sorry my terminology is bad 😬

Great review brotha! If it struggles with just your 28mm then it's probably a no go for me. The jerky pan movements reminds me of my Zhiyun Crane 3 Lab as well, which I'm not impressed with. I am however impressed with gyro stabilization and it's something I've used on occasions after talking to you about it. Interesting to know that inverting the A7siii negates eye/face detect 🤔

The only issue with gyro, it does not work well with 1080p60 and 1080p120. I tried with a7c and the image is degraded too much. It works great in 4k24. The issue is we need 1080p to have slow motion. So gyro is not good for that. I will find a gimbal that does not require gyro stabilization and where we can use ibis. Then i will try to combine gyro + gimbal to see what the result are. Now which gimbal? Weebill s or weebill 2 or rs2
@CC-gt3ro
@CC-gt3ro 3 жыл бұрын
Other people got good result with a7c and 17-28 and a7siii and prime lens. I didn’t see the jitters Brandon Li is talking about. Maybe he is not used to small gimbal that require more attention in the technics. Of course it is lighter so react more easily to movements.

With sony you loose the eye af with pc remote anyway. So i suppose you don’t connect the camera to the gimbal and use the camera button instead. I think eye af work with pc remote only in 1080p if i don’t mistaken.
