UPDATE just to help everyone NOT break the housing to open: there is a philips screw inside the tripod attachment at the bottom, if you unscrew that one and then use a thin guitar pick to go around the edges you can open it without breaking anything.

That's correct and thank you for the info Gabriele Nicotra. If you search for screws it's the only one you can find and of course you unscrew this first ! it's the basics about fixing something . My smooth Q is still working like a charm ! Stay strong and stay home ! (Covid-19)

Thank you very much! The video helped a lot! I replaced the battery in my Smooth Q, for two new [Samsung 35E 18650 3500mAh]. Now it seems to work well again. My soldering skills aren't so good, so I struggled with that. I hope it will last for a while.

Hello my friend the only option you have it to try and change the old batteries with some some new batteries 18650 type at 2000mAh . The stock batteries are poor quality .

hey bro, i dropped my gimble and since then whenever i on my gimble, the stablizer turns on for 1 second then it goes off, i mean the gimble balance itself for one second then it drops like the motor stop working. im nt sure what happend but whats the possible issue here? please bro tell me if u hav anythn to suggest

hi, my smooth q charging indicator blinks normally but i have already charged more than 8 hours but it still not fully charged yet (still around 50%). Is it the battery at fault or another component?

batteries is usually the problem and the most easy fix you can replace them ... but if you have warranty from local store just go it for repair. Now if you have buy it like me from China i don't even bother to send it back and tried myself to fix it and it worked . It's working fine . I bought two 18650 batteries and replace them but it's not easy to open ;) you will leave some scratches . I was ready to buy the new one but i give it a try, mine was complete dead (it was said charged but in reality not working at all when you open it after 1 minute or less dead)

Hello, I am having battery problem like yours, I got a pare of battery 18650, 2000mah but Smoth Q seem not accept other kind of batter. When I install the new good one, it doesn't work, but when i put the old original one, it works again. Do you have any idear?

check the polarity of the batteries maybe (+ - ) .

Is it a must to solder the batteries? Cos i tried with just tapes it doesn’t work.

You have a few options for connecting the batteries: 1) buy a 2-pack already soldered together in series, but with 3 wires. 2) use a battery welder to connect batteries with nickle strips, 3) soldering wires onto batteries. I recommend option 1 or 2. Option 3 will degrade/damage the batteries because of the heat. Taping wires to batteries is totally unreliable and will fail. I used option 2.

Hi, what kind of battery does ICR18650 or IMR 18650 carry?

after a google search ... i find ICR is an older type of of 18650 battery and the IMR is the newer type of 18650 which it allows your battery to discharge at a high current while maintaining low temperatures (for Vaping). This means that it's safer than many of the older ICR batteries. now i think the original was ICR inside the smooth Q because of the purple color of the batteries . now i have installed IMR and it's still working fine !

just see the diagram , this is the point :) , i had promised to another person here from youtube to try changing the batteries of my smooth Q and see if it works (experiment). and this video was my answer - promise ... cheers see again the diagram this is all what you need and to know where is positive (+) and negative (-) in the battery that's all

i think only 3point soldering to replace battery. but your video show many soldering point. is it need many point soldering? i think 2s 18650 battery need 3 solder point 1.+ 2.balance port 3.gnd
