One mode you missed is holding the mode button down for several seconds puts the gimbal in "standby" mode, useful if you want to play with the phone settings, and then just press and hold the mode button again to reactivate the gimbal's balancing.

How is the gimbal turned off? I thought you just hold the 'mode' button down for several seconds. Also I have firmware version 1.6 but tried to upgrade the firmware using Windows PC driver & software but could never get the gimbal to connect. I did download version 1.6 but if/when I ever need to upgrade the firmware, I need to have PC connect to gimbal (I plug USB into PC and find the port but does not connect).

It might, but I suggest you just use The built in action stabilization and avoid a gimbal for a 2020+ iPhone.

Not by hardware buttons that I'm aware of. You can focus and exposure lock in the app (ususally with a long press but I can't remember exactly what it is in ZhiYun Play).

Definitely not. It can balance with a very small point and shoot and that’s pushing the limits. You need a crane M or crane v2.

I just bought it and dont know this video was more useful then the actual zhiyun did. I was not able to understand the modes the roll double tap mode is very weird. But that roll on double tap is for Dutch roll.

Why is camera quality so bad in the app mode? I can use the gimbal without the app, but what is the point with the app if they are going to butcher the video quality? It makes the app useless. Btw do you know any way to get the joystick to be inverted?

Joystick only tilts and does not pan in the default startup mode. You have to press mode button then joystick works for doing 360 pans.

Have you tried the Promovie app for filming cinematic stuff? I hear that FilmicPro is okay, but has a few issues. Have been testing out Promovie as a cheap alternative and it seems robust...just wondering if you had advice on using it.

You can use the native camera app. ZhiYun has had issues with their app and Samsung. I’ve tested android with an LG G6 and it was ok. Not great. It’s not great even on iPhone. I use the stock native camera app on the gimbal the most. Best quality footage and most reliable app.

No it can't do that. If you want a photo of a frame in a video you can always do a screenshot later.

There are three modes for the zhiyunSmoth-Q stabilizer: left and right follow mode, full lock mode, and full follow mode. The mode button on the handle can be switched, but it does not remind what mode it is now in, or what mode it has switched to. There is no switch alert on the app, which makes it difficult for others to have this problem

I have the same problem. It will pair with my son's Samsung A5, but not with my Samsung C9 Pro. Zhiyung runs a Facebook page and I think this issue is discussed there.

Hey man great video. I just bought the smooth Q gimble for my Samsung S7 Edge. However the shutter button and zoom slider does not work. i have seen people use the power/shutter button to take photo, and use the zoom slider for switching between front and back camera. Thank you so much for actually showing that the zoom button is smooth while zooming in, watched a review earlier and the person made it out to look like the zoom is crap and it switches but it only switches camera etc whe not recording which I guess is a good thing so you can just use one hand to switch between front and rear camera and picture and record unlike other gimble you have to touch the screen. So now I'm stich either the smooth Q or the smove mobile

You have to be recording to get smooth zoom. And if yours is not doing that then look at updating the firmware. My gimbal is running 1.60.

Check that your gimbal is on the latest firmware. Also it only will smooth zoom when it's recording. I also only tested the zoom smoothness in iOS.

1.60 is the latest firmware for SmoothQ and the latest iOS App as of June 26 is v2.5.2. It should smooth zoom when in ZYPlay while recording.

Hey, something to put on the list...a video showing some deets about the ZY Play App. I am getting the hang of it, but there are some things I am noticing, like when I change the perimeters of the PZT components (like, changing the Pan speed, etc.) it does not save it. Even though I select Save. It even asks for a title for the save, yet there is no way to access the Save to find it again, but it just still does not save it. Period.

I didn't encounter that issue when I tested a prior version of ZY Play on iOS. When I made any PTZ change it asked for a name and that shows up in the scene list under walk, motion, custom. One nice thing is that when you SAVE the PTZ, it actually saves the settings to the gimbal. Then the gimbal works with your last PTZ settings even when not using ZY Play. This is very useful to me, because I always want tilt to be reversed on joystick. For me it is much more natural to have it respond like a flight joystick, down to tilt up and up to tilt down.

Thanks for the video man, but the main problem with Zhiyn Smooth Q its not working on Android Phones, its super buggy even when it does manage to connect, its mostly made for IOS Software and this is awful that Zhiyn does not fix that...

Zhiyun SmoothQ's Android version of APP is not perfect. It can only experience full functionality in iOS version APP, and APP has no OTA upgrade function and can only be completed on the PC side.

People don't know, but even though this "works" with androids, the app for iphone is much better and more stable. This will work with other apps like filmic pro, but they aren't optimized for the gimbals full use.
