I just shazam'd this last night. Didn't realise it was Simple Minds. Thank God for Shazam. What a song. It's only now I'm an oldie (51) that I'm appreciating more older music. The last few years I've got fed up with dance music, to a degree, but at least I'm learning.

Man it was a different time. No flashy visuals, no video with a change of shot/camera angle every 2 seconds in case they lose your attention. Just a bunch of lads playing some pretty fucking awesome music on a stage in front of a fire pit with a golden cross in it. What more could you ask for?

I'd ask.. to keep the original founder members. Mc Kay out from SM is like David Bryan out from Bon Jovi. Today a guy plays just samples with 2 controllers and a pc. The bassist and drummer left too.

A time when music was full of character, unique sounds and styles. I miss the 80s, I still listen to a myriad of different musical types all different all very special to me. Simple Minds was so enjoyable.

I don't know which country you come from, but I lived in socialist Czechoslovakia at the time, where this type of music was taboo. I just couldn't hear it. Only a few people who got to the west were lucky enough to bring us cassettes with this music. Then my friends and I listened to it somewhere in the park and thought to ourselves, what incredible timeless music it is...

I was there and got chucked out as I was considered too exhuberant and me being from glasgow I took the bouncers on to no avail but saw them Again at Coogee in Sydney great times indeed all the best 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

Absolutely 💯 love this band. This sound is a superb fusion of rock and new wave synth. Reminds me of a better time in the world and in our lives. Different era, you can feel it in the sound of 1982. Different era, long gone sadly.

I saw them play this live in 1981 in Tiffanys Ballroom in Glasgow. The Minds were just becoming big then. I knew back then they were going to become huge, but it’s amazing they’re still playing today and have got even better. Jim and Charlie you are a pair of Glasgow legends!!

My opinion: To highlight this song is absolutely inappropriate, new gold dream is one of the best albums of the 80s, and it has this status because it is full of great songs. Anyone who claims that Someonewhere is the best song has not taken enough time for the album. Sorry

I asked my mum to buy the album for my birthday present when I was 15. I'm an Australian male. I haven't stopped loving them since. Now I am capable of seeing through the "trends of the time" and really understand the timelessness and brilliance of SM.

Brilliant album , cracking song . 70’s and 80’s such a brilliant period for truly original music and great bands. Sad that all the things that made these times memorable no longer exist , Top of the pops , the chart rundown on a Tuesday lunchtime , NME and Melody maker , my album collection . Streaming is nonsense it’s just not the same ,a real lack of obscure information relating to your album that you could read while listening and maybe having a little toke 😃

Came to it through a Jeremy Vine rabbit hole . he plays this lots . Always reminds me of walking the streets of Aldrington and Portslade in Brighton in the summer 🏝️ 🌞 of '88. for me i felt in peak performance then and wore a micro mini skirt with stilettoes👠👠 as it played, dreaming about beautiful crushes ❤

La Italo Disco e' un percorso psicologico di difficile interpretazione ma di sicuro entusiasmante per chi l' ha vissuta appieno quando era ragazzo come me. Te ne puoi magari allontanare per un certo periodo, ma quando la ritrovi e la riascolti ti accorgi che non ne puoi fare a meno perché ne hai bisogno come una droga. Viva la Italo Disco e gli anni 80... Anni magici allora....Anni da incubo adesso. Solo chi ha vissuto gli anni 80 puo' capire queste parole.❤😍😍
