That was very helpful. I bought both the Zig Zag and Chicane last year cause I'm an older guy and wanting to keep things as simple and easy as possible. I've never even see anyone describe those two ways of using it- I like both of them and will have to try them sometime. It's amazing how many different ways of climbing and tools are available at every turn. I'm new and still learning a lot, but vids like this are helpful and certainly things I can add to my arsenal.

Nicely done Dustin! I like that you showed multiple uses for the plus, along with the side by side comparison. My understanding is with using the chicane on the old version is that petzl and the safety police don't recommend it because the old zigzag wasn't tested or purpose built for SRT use. But we've all used one with a wrench/tether on there anyways lol! I use the extra attachment point on my plus for tending it while rope walking, but never seen nor thought of doing the vrig with it. I'll have to give that a try sometime, looked like a real simple and clean set up. Great job and keep up the great work brother!

I SRT 90% of the time and CMI (I believe) makes a hand ascender with a built in pulley that you will love! It’s just a little more stream lined and less bulky. Keep up the GREAT work!!!!!!!

Congratulations on getting lucky with treestuff. Every once in a while good stuff happens to good people!!! V rig thing is cool.. Happy new year. Been playing with my new akimbo. Running it on Yale blue moon at frist was not so sure about it but still playing on it. I notice it reacts differently from almost new blue moon and more used one. But I am still curious on what methods u have come up with and what ropes u are finding easyer then others for you.. if your thinking to do video on it.

I have only tried 3 ropes with it so far. I will do a video on it once I get some more testing, xstatic has been my go to for now. It seems to work well on anything if set correctly. Unless your ropes really wet or theres sap. Thanks for watching man I will do a follow up. Happy 2020 👊

A very good informative video my friend, it is a great tool with great ease of use, I like how petzl came out with the chicane after so much about the tethers that people created to use the zz for srt use flooded the sites, I still prefer my friction cord for drt, that whole thing relies on that one little spring in the top link 🤨, using the Cornell hitch seems to flow really easy if you use hitch cords, be blessed brother and Happy New Year.

Poplar I'd like to see a review on it, I just got the zigzag and chicane but it's a lot nicer than what I started on. You're bound to like the chicane even though it wouldn't exist if not for the zagwrench tether and your RR tether

Great video! I’ve watched your video’s on the Akimbo as well. I know they’re 2 totally different creatures, but if you had to pick one, which one would it be. I’m looking at them just for ascending and descending only. I don’t do tree work. Recreational climbing
@PoplarMechanic4 жыл бұрын
Well for recreation, If you plan on setting your line with a throw line alot I would go with the akimbo. Being able to attatch mid line is pretty valuable. Keep in mind the zigzag is probably more user friendly and may work better with a wider range of ropes. Even though I haven't used the chicane I would recommend getting it because its designed specifically for the zigzag and zig zag plus, Hope that helps.
