Looks intricate, but is actually quite straight forward. This is basically a 3 colour version of a checkerplate pattern.

I could not imagine how you were going to warp and thread a pattern with single color threads, on a rigid heddle loom. But this makes perfect sense!! Thanks for another great video. I think I'll reheat my coffee and watch it again!

Steph, love this pattern. Your videos are a wealth of information to me. Love watching them. I am having trouble keeping my outside warp threads (on each side) from becoming loose. Any ideas or suggestions? I do weight them to complete the weaving but can’t figure out why they become loose. Since I am new to weaving I try to emulate everything you do when I set up to weave and when I weave…you are a good teacher. Thanks

Thank you! I’m thinking that maybe when you tie on and off, those threads might be looser? Try keeping them even, and pulling the threads a little more before you warp the next slot. Good luck!

Is there a reason why you lash on with scrap yarn instead of tying warps directly onto the apron bar? I love the cardboard tube idea! To protect from getting bumps in the woven fabric from the knots! 😊

Hello! I usually lash on when I don’t need a fringe, it saves so much yarn. Hope that helps! Thank you!

Just can’t say enough about your video/tutorials! This pattern is lovely as always. How long a warp can be done on a 32” rigid heddle, for instance could a 6 yd warp be wound on it?? Blessings to you Steph for your generosity in sharing🙏🪷

You are very welcome, thank you!. The longest I have done is 5.5 metres which is around 6 yards. It’s definitely possible but I’ve only done it in cotton. With wool or bulky yarn I’m not sure. You would need to be careful about bulk on the back beam I think.

Love your videos! You have single handed my gotten me excited about my RH again. I have a big stash of 8/2. Could I use that that and just double it up in the 10 dent reed?

Hello, Yes you can! You will need to double in warp and also weft to get the same result. Good luck!

Oh I think this is a great idea. I might reduce the headache for myself and just use 8/2 cotton to make it a brainless warp 😂

I appreciate your knowledge with the RHL. I have to complain about the music - it is making me grind my teeth...yikes.

Thank you for your comment. Music is one of the things I find the hardest to get right! You didn’t mention whether it’s the actual music, or the settings and ratio of sound, so I’ll answer both. If it’s the type of music, well, I think that is subjective. What appeals to one person may not to another, and that’s ok. If it’s the ratio of music to voice, that is valid feedback. I have experimented with lots of settings, exploring Dynamic Range Compression, and so many other things. Every time I think I have nailed it, and it sounds perfect on my computer, I upload it and it doesn’t meet my expectations! I’m now realising that I can’t use the same settings for each piece of music, and now I’m trying to find the balance. Thank you for reaching out!
