I'm a Paiste guy and have been for years, but the K Zildjian line is the only line i would ever switch to if that were the case.. Best sounding Zildjian line in my humble opinion..

Which model do you use on Paiste? Im with the K Dark but feel curious to explore new sounds.
@rhythmista7707
@rhythmista7707 10 жыл бұрын
I'm using all vintage Paiste.. hi hats-2000 series medium in traditional finish( very close to 2002 mediums) Paiste black label 505 series 20" crash/ride (great crystal controlled wash, with a bright, warm crash, which has just enough sustain and decays out quickly but not too quickly, almost as if it were fast crash, but lasts a little longer.. Black Label 2002 20" ride (circa '78) that perfect ride sound you heard from Floyd, Zeppelin, Purple, (need i say more?)..A set of black label 404 series, dark and trashy and super thin, perfect for unplugged gigs, folk rock, and especially jazz, (which were a beginner's series from '78'-86, but are far superior to today's budget lines from Paiste, such as the beginner 100's and brass series lines and intermediate PST series lines.. A 16" 2002 series crash (circa 1978) and last but not least, the newest of the bunch is my superb sounding 18" Giant Beat multi crash/ ride.. But if i had my choice of new cymbals from Paiste, i would tend to go with the Formula 602's, the Signature Traditionals, and the 2002's.. But, as i'm sure you have a certain type of taste for cymbals , and seeing how you play K's, the Paiste equivalent would the Masters series, or the Formula 602 modern essentials, which is not to be confused with Formula 602 classic sounds, which are based on the vintage Formula 602's..Whatever the case, you'll enjoy these cymbals no matter what series you choose.. Hope this helps..

A zildjian or A's are the most known and heard Zildjian sounds. Especially on music albums. Many drummers using A Custom Live use traditional A's Studio because Custom are too '' brilliant '' to the recording. About me, I prefer the Sabian AAX to Zildjian A Custom, which, the two series are equivalent. AAX have a lower pitch and they have more models. Ex: AAX X-Plosion Crashes are equivalent to A Custom Projection. Medium-Thin Weight, Modern, Bright, strong attack, powerful, projective and long sustain. My 22 '' Metal Ride looks a lot like a Ping and Projection. Heavy Weight, Modern, Birght. I love my Hi-Hat 14 '' Metal Hats. Heavy / Extra Heavy Weight. Weighs 6.4 lbs. Looks like an A's Rock Hats and quite a Dyno Beat. In the late 80s and 90s, there was the Brilliant A series. One of the best series of Zildjian. They were Brilliant and Modern models of A's, kind of between A's and A's Custom. Medium Crash was the most popular and had excellent sounds, powerful, projective and sustain in mass.

You should keep the cymbal set description open for the whole duration of a clip of them. That would be most helpful. I like the K Darks. These sound good to me and will use for jazz and R&B. But Zildjian has a ride simply called a Sweet Ride. Would like to hear that mixed in with the K Darks to tell if it fits as an alternate ride. Also would like to hear the ZBT 18" China along with the K Darks. It is lower in pitch than the K Dark 18" China and wonder how it would sound with the K Darks.

I actually use a 21" sweet ride with some K dark crashes and a set of A custom New Beat hihats. That is definitely my favorite combo of zildjian cymbals. I can play rock, jazz, funk, and Latin grooves without worrying about one of the cymbals sticking out.

I'd kinda like to see a new and improved version of this video with the addition of Kerope and K custom (not dark), and maybe some different sizes within each line. Are the new ZHTs and ZBTs being used in this video, or are those the old ones? If they're the old, I'd like to hear the new ones in an updated version.

Owen Jarchow yeah I know, I just wanted to compare them to the old ones. I have a 20" Old ZBT Ride and an 18" ZBT Crash that's shattered into pieces. I've just recently learned that the stamped cymbals (sheet) crack much more easily than cast, so I decided to go ahead and splurge on a gently used pair of A New Beats. Best purchase I've ever made.

I had a mixed bag which I'm slowing changing out with Avedis models, used, vintage stuff, I test drove some other things and I think I will be better served sticking with vintage A Zildj. I thought I would really dig the K's but no, I checked the Kerope's - nope, I like that "Bright, Full-bodied, and Natural" Avedis sound, I can work with that probably the best overall, especially in a variety setting. A lot of the things we're doing leans towards those vintage cymbals as the material was put out back when the Avedis line was used extensively by a lot of acts. I thought Paiste might fit the bill but everything I was checking out was thick. In many brands (to my ear) even medium-thin is too heavy. UFIP's... too expensive and hard to find in a store to check the sound. Ten, twenty, thirty grams difference of the same size and make is quite noticeable. My advice for buyers... go to a store with a cymbal room and test. Walk away for lunch or to relax your ears and come back in. Try them with ear plugs, without ear plugs, with YOUR sticks and as many different ways as possible... bring a friend have them play while you stand on the other side of the room. And pick a time and a day when the place isn't loaded with customers so you can hear what is happening. My takeaway from this vid is that I'm moving my china over to the hi hats... thanks for the visual.

Zildjian. Paistes are pretty expensive over here and you can't go wrong with the Zildjian A Series.

I like that jam. It would be cool to hear some a lead guitar and bass combined with it.

Out of all these cymbals, I like the K Zildjian, K Constantinople, the A Customs. They sound the best to me.

Pabi Grg For sure. They're a little bit more in my budget. I don't have 1000$ for K's.

I have the a customs (got them in a pack with the brilliant finish) and absolutely love them, however, if I got any new cymbals, I'd have to go with those K Constantinople's!!!

They probably shipped all the stuff to his home studio. So that's just his normal kit and he just put all the different cymbal lines up there.

The Constantinople series are the best sounding to my ears. K Custom Darks sound very nice as well. Tough choice.

I use a set of Zildjian A. They sound way better in person than the video portrays, very loud, very crisp. Sounds exactly like what a good cymbal should sound like.
