I'd be interested to know if T75s from the 1980s do that too. Most bands used them on stage back then and I remember those bands sounding very good. Yngwie used them too. His lead tone on the Rising Force album is so, so good. I have a 1960a quad from about 1990 or so. The T75s have a black back with a white stripe through them. I had not seen those ones before. They definitely chugged better than my H30 loaded 2x12 when my nephew played his nu-metal stuff. I noticed a nasty frequency when he played lead with high gain though. The H30s were nicer for that.

The T75 opens up in the mids, where the Greenback is very glued in that region. There’s a reason greenbacks are so nice with classic amps with that open character. it all gets glued together with that sweet gooey goodness. But with modern amps, they tend to be way more compressed so they need something to let them breath a little. I find amps like Diezels just do better with T75s so you get a little of that klankiness that is just so damn fun to play

@@MATTE.U.K it’s kind of the other way around. T75s have a certain hollowness to them due to the way they’re scooped. Greenbacks are more full in the low mids, but also have a high-mid spike. It’s presents as more even. With 75s, it’s like the speaker emulates what your guitar would sound like once it’s mastered in a mix. It sheds off some of the low-mid “puff”, it’s got more air and presence and the lows are set deeper.

Greenback for classic and modern metal (funny how that works) but for 80’s rock and SRV blues, the 75, it’s like my ears favor the smooth greenback sound on its own but in a mix the 75 cuts so that’s my opinion lolz

T75 sounds like its totally missing a bunch frequencies in the upper mids.

My choice would depend on the style I'm going to play. For classic Rock like old Van Halen greenback all the way But for the heavier metal tones T 75 Works Much better.

Is this a chinese 75? Sounds a bit fizzy,the Uk ones are nicer and arent that scooped in the mid range
@ZillaCabs3 жыл бұрын
It is Chinese but the advantage of the UK made version is that they have had twenty plus years to soften up. People were saying the same thing about T75s twenty years ago. I love the T75 y the way, I;ve got stacks of them as they are so cheap. Thanks for watching.

I love the G12t-75's in my Marshall 1960a 4x12, however in this demo they do sound a bit fizzy. Maybe I have that EQ'd out? I have been thinking about maybe replacing two of the G12t-75's with G12m-65's (Creamback). I think the combination would be good. I assume I would put one on top and one below, diagonally? I would imagine I could two 25 watt Greenbacks instead of the G12h-75's and that would still give me 200 watts. And the Greenback 25 would break up earlier. Bogner mixes a V30 and Creamback in their OS 2x12 cabs and that sounds really good. Has anyone else tried this (or similar) combo in a 4 x 12? Results?

I have a 1960A too and I love it as well. Have you seen Ola's review on the Marshall DSL20H? He uses a 1960TV cab with greenbacks. At 5:30 he mentions the lack of pumping low end. That's when the "AH HA!" moment came, so I'll be replacing to two top speakers with greenbacks.

Not fair comparison , the 75 should be up 50% higher then the tops would become thinner as the cone starts to buckle and push more bass through , then its sounds similar but still more brittle than the 25 , a broken in 75 sounds way different , to this raspy cardboard thing
@ZillaCabs7 ай бұрын
sure, all broken in speakers sound different (as it goes these aren't straight out of the box). Any speaker comparison isn't a fair test, no one would play a speaker like this in real life. As it goes, when we do videos with talking so we can put context in we get slammed for it, which is why we haven't bothered putting any videos up for three years.

Greenbacks= lots of "body" and ~120hz growl. Raw and honey-like! Slower attack T75s=deeper-set lows, accentuates pick-to-string action (love this!). An almost 40 year old speaker STILL sounds modern as hell. Faster transient. Both are super fun to play and one is NOT better than the other, with exception to application. T75s clean and firm up "body" frequencies a bit, making it the better choice for stuff like Boogies, Diezels, and Bogners inherently have that syrupy character and are very compressed and full. You can Greenback a Friedman all day though, since they aren't so compressed.

The G12T-75 used in this video is made in China and sounds totally different from the ones made in England, the ones made in England blow the new Chinese ones away.
@ZillaCabs Жыл бұрын
They haven't been made in the UK for almost twenty years so the UK made T75s have had twenty years + to break in. There is also as much variation in UK made T75s as there is in most UK T75s against a new T75. There also aren't too many people have compared them in the exact same situation, and the its clear they aren't totally different.
@rcattz5755 Жыл бұрын
They are totally different, there are many comparisons of the new and old broken in side buy side on line and the English blow the Chinese away, I have the old my friend has the new he wants mine. Not sure what you are listening to.@@ZillaCabs
@ZillaCabs Жыл бұрын
@@rcattz5755 OK, I think you missunderstand what I'm saying, and I don't want to get in an internet arguement. I;ve recorded dozens and there is a difference, but there is as much difference within the UK T75s and there is between a twenty year old T75 and a new speaker. You are not comparing like with like. A fifteen year old Chinese T75 sounds softer than a new T75. Like I say, I'm not going to argue about this, I recorded heaps of these and A/B tested them to hell and back.

if you can really play well doesn't matter jack shit what you're playing though, A poor craftsman blames his tools

But at the same time a proper craftsman also chooses the right tools to help them achieve their goal. Marble sculptors don't use a wood chisel.
