Ultimately decided to part with my black 15 plate Z4. Traded it in for a sparkly white 10-month old new model. Love everything about it, particularly the 21st century cockpit with all the whistles and bells. And that exhaust note! I'll miss the hard top a little but the extra boot space more than compensates. Plus it's lighter and easier on the electrics. A fine looking motor car, my fourth Z4 in a row since 2009.

I have a E89 in black with red interior. Best looking car on the road apart from a 911. Thinking of buying a faster E89 and staying with the old school design. Just can’t get excited with the front - looks like a 3 series and very curvy!

Yes very good gets lost of attention when driving around very smooth when driving it normally only problem was I had to have a new tire which cost me £220

The G29 actually just looks like a soft top. It is hard af, nothing like an Alfa Spider jacket or sth like what we think of when we talk about soft tops. Should be quiet at high speeds and keep you warm at winter.

Great video, although I’ve never seen someone get so excited about a key before, especially when you can link the key to your phone and ditch the key:-) personally would have liked more time talking about how it drove rather than the tech, but appreciate that’s part of the cars appeal. good point about the wind buffering, it is important factor for those of us who spend considerable time in the car with the roof down- main reason for buying a z4. Overhaul a good informative review - as a e89 owner, I liked it

Like myself i think few E89 owners would "upgrade" to the new car. Like me the appeal of the E89 is the hard roof. Had enough of trying to scrape bird poo out of fabric roofs. Also i like the retro look of the E89. I think BMW are looking for a new breed of owner. Be lucky if they sell a third of what E89 sold and that wasn't many. The new car doesn't look bad in black, it hides all the fussy angles.

Hey Zimba, i had a test drive with the 20i without the adaptive dampers. It was still a lot of fun but without the adaptive dampers, it was quite uncomfortable. You drove the 20i with the adaptive dampers. Here is my questions: is it way more comfortable with the adaptive suspension? i would be very thankful for an answer because I am going to order a z4. The only thing that holds me back is the harsh ride. I just want to know if you feel a difference with the adaptive dampers...Thank you..

Go in sport or sport plus mode. When driving shift down a gear into 3rd and let go of the accelerator, it'll start popping. Especially when you're coming to a stop 👌

Once upon a time BMW offered a manual in most of its cars now it’s a ZF 8sp auto. As much as this is a good auto, the Z4 is screaming out for a 6speed manual

Nearly 18 months. The squeaking from the dash is crushing my soul. I also seem to have a budgie behind the headrest as all I can hear is chirping every time I go over bumps and potholes. 😩😩😩😩 Still love the car though!

Side by side, the E89 looks a LOT better than the new G29. You can see that the designers of the older model had the classic BMW 507 in mind when it was being conceived. The G29 looks like a Merc from the back and Mazda from the front. I think I'll be keeping my E89. I think I'll get a Porsche or an R8 next and skip this variant. That won't be for a while though as I love my hardtop convertible.

Had the car for a few days as a rental, its quite nice. Performance is good, interior and quality very nice. However steering feel could be better.

Have one like this, identical. Avoid wearing blue jeans as blue denim stains the wonderful magma red seats. Some elbow grease is then required to clean seats using a good quality leather cleaner. Otherwise car is fantastic 👍

U make mistake... i have bmw z4 28i E89 and i may put my roof up and down (not only down) by my key... its optional but its possible...

Zimba Motoring...thats what i'm talking about- I can do it because I have an optional "S322A COMFORT ACCESS" , You cant do that because you people don't have "S322A COMFORT ACCESS". My vin number is E715968, so u may chek it on the internet that if has breke energu regeneration and a lot of optional equipment...., you may also chek on the internet what COMFORT ACCESS for bmw E89 meas.... conclusion... it is possible to up a roof on Z4 E89 if u have an optional equipment called COMFORT ACCESS.

Hard top is a definate no for me. So taste differs gladly. I love this one, keeping my E85 and adding this one to the collection after skipping the E89

great vid! the new z4 hast lost the e85 roadster spirit. should have named it 400 etc but not z4. too much bling bling, more a living room than a roadster. a bmw with a 4 cylinder is a nogo ontop. bmw is famous for their outstanding 6 cylinder engines. 4 cylinder sounds worse than a sewing machine...smile..glad my all black e85 is still runing smooth and does look awesome. the only thing that reminds of the e85 is the canvas top, the front looks ok but dies look like a fiat spider abarth..doesn't even come near to the e85 front..drive fast, drive safe & best wishes

Looks like a blunt instrument, got no soul. The e89 is a classic design that will go down in BMWs history as one of the legendary designs ever. The e89 won many design and styling awards. I don't think this design has won any design awards?
