Yeah they might be the same cars technically, but the set-up is completely different. Suspension, transmission, engine mapping, aero and weight distribution. It's all a little different and it adds up. Professional drivers say it too, they behave significantly different.

my first car put on the parking lights if you left on the corresponding indicator and switched the engine off. And since the indicator stalk had to be manually disengaged from left because some catch was broken, I always had to check if I didn't leave it on by accident. Because the battery & electrical system were weak as well. Which was understandable because the car was built in 1985.

@@zJoriz I suppose it depends on your country - if parking lights are not required, then car manufacturers probably won't put them to cars made for that country. In my country, every car needs at least the "standard" parking lights which light up a small bulb in all 4 corners. You typically control this with the same switch as the normal lights (parking lights are the first position if the switch is rotary). The ability to light up just the left or right side of the vehicle is IMHO optional and depends on whether the car manufacturer wants to give you this choice that saves energy. I don't think the law dictates this function.

It should be obvious, but just to clarify: the "comfort access" feature is a 7th gen iDrive feature, not a 2019 Z4 feature. Same with the climate controls, preset buttons, etc. Could have gone over these things in the X5, X7, 8 or 3 series reviews. The celsius issue can easily be fixed over the air, not like it's a permanent issue or requires a visit to the dealership. STILL waiting on Android Auto, though...

BMW trim levels USE TO make sense up until the 2007 era cars. An old 328i was a 3-series with a 2.8L motor. 525i was a simple 5 series with a 2.5L. Now it is purely marketing. When someone is coming out of a lease of a 320i, they want them to feel like they are "upgrading" when they sign a lease for a new model 330i at the same cost, when in reality its the same car. Same goes for the old 330i's or 335i's that are 340's etc etc.. This is the exact answer I received when I asked about nomenclature while attending a training for the incoming G series vehicles a few years ago.

@@hds8182 you are completely missing the point. The 328i was only referenced to break down the significance of what the numbers meant in the model name "328i" or "525i". There was a methodical reason for naming the cars this way. Thus going from a 525i to a 530i was an upgrade, as you were getting a larger engine which was also reflected in the model designation. It is NOT like this now. Take for instance a 2013 320i, it is the baseline 3 series, small 4cyl turbo motor for economy. Then when BMW launched the Next generation 3 series, take for instance the 2017 330i, it is still the base level engine platform, 4 cylinder turbo, but customers who are ending there lease on an old model, can get into a NEW 330i and still "feel" like their upgrading. The 335i cars of the current gen became the 340i for no real reason other than to change the name to larger number to appeal to peoples want to "upgrade". Hope that makes sense.

@@bradhaines3142 I thought of that, and then you'd have the battery going on the car. Albeit, it has a much higher capacity but these things are power drains at the best of times. Truly the ultimate in lazy though: not having to press a button to unlock your car. The evolution of car doors: 1) no locks 2) locks but you had to put a key in 3) power locks that you had to access after you opened the door with a key 4) press a button on a remote/no key 5) no button, proximity detection What's next? Facial recognition? To me though, I'd say to the makers: shove your auto unlocks, how about building an engine that will last trouble free for 4 years?

Back in 2016, I bought my daughter the 2016 z4 for her 16th birthday and that was the best z4 BMW has made to date. It was the hardtop convertible and man do I wish BMW still made the hardtop model. I was sad when we traded it in a few years back for a Mercedes GLC. She was starting college and wanted a larger car, though I should have kept it for myself because I've regretted trading it ever since. There aren't any decent hardtop convertibles on the market, and that car was beautiful. It would have been a fun little weekend car, but it is what it is.

Agreed. I happen to really like the 4 series convertibles, and even though the new ones still look good, they ditched the folding hardtop for a soft top. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s a nicely designed soft top, but it still doesn’t compare to the coupe-like 2 cars in 1 feeling you get with the previous generation 4 series convertibles. Therefore if I had a choice, I think I would choose the older models used.

Keeping the lights on on one side of the car has been a feature for decades. Turn the indicator stalk to one side, shut the car off, and the lights on that side will stay on.

Honestly I’d have to say the old z4 is just a timeless body style tho everyone thought it looked ahead of its time when that body first released I think this new z4 looks older then the previous z4 I just think it’s the sexy and sharp lines of the previous z4 that makes it timeless and makes it age well
