Just an awesome car, Adam. Great video. The BBS’s were my dream wheel as a kid in the 80’s. My first car after college was a wannabe version of this car - ‘92 Jetta GLI 16v in Tornado Red with stock BBS wheels (in silver) and stock Recaros (alas, in cloth). I’m certain the drivers of your car scoffed at me, being a little pretender!

Fabulous car ! Since buying my E28 five years ago, I am absolutely in love with it. It is a rust free, low mileage Spanish 525i, not nearly as fast as yours, but it sounds the same, as it is also an M30, but the B25 version. Enjoy your E28. 👍

im only 22 and i got my first e28 5 years ago its a 1986 535i is now turbo but ive come to love these cars and ive gone through so many changes in those 5 years i also have a 1984 528e but something bout the big six just gets me

Just found this video. Great looking car! I have an 87 zinno/black 535is which I inherited from my mom 2 years ago. Bone stock except for style 5 BBS wheels in silver. Only 112k miles. About two weeks ago on Bring a Trailer a white on red example sold for over $53k!. Love the exhaust sound on your car. I'd like to upgrade to the euro lights if the parts can be found.

I got my 1988 535i for 500 bucks with a clean title. That sounds nice until literally everything broke when I drove it. So now it's troubleshooting each and every point of the car that needs its long overdue maintenance. Beautiful car, though. I still look at it every single time I walk by it.

We should get our cars together and take pics. There is a zinno over black that underwent a full paint job and exterior restoration a few years ago at Sears body shop in Plymouth, was it your car?

The blue buttons control lumbar support, but how are the seats adjusted? I couldn't see the original seat controls on the center console.

There is a button that raises and lowers the seat backs. The blue buttons are for the air bladders. There is also a button for seat heaters which is nice.

I just got my new to me 86 535i auto a few months ago. I love it but it needs work. If i can only find someone who knows how to fix it. The one's i've run across so far are playing around. They don't really know how these cars work. I'm about to take it to the stealer. And i don't want to do that but i'll be forced to if i can't find someone that knows how to fix the issue with idle and not redlining. It feels very sluggish. But i can't wait to experience this same feeling.

If you find the right BMW dealer, they usually have a few techs that love working on the old stuff. But it's tough to find a dealer set up this way.

Make sure you make an account over at mye28.com. They'll have all the info you need to baseline your car. Even if you plan to have someone else do all the work, it's good to know more about the car and the typical issues almost everyone runs into at some point.
