The rollout and full transition to ATSC 1.0 was rough for rural areas that couldn't get a strong enough signal for the station, but this ATSC 3.0 rollout hasn't had enough roadblocks says Comcast/Universal alongside other media conglomerates. Ban DRM on OTA!

Thanks a ton for doing this video! I’ve been wanting to get a tuner for ATSC 3.0 but I’ve been holding off because I really don’t want to connect my antenna to the Internet as the whole point of using an intended to me is no broadcast delay at all so it looks like this might be the one for me.

sometimes it takes a few minutes of watching an ATSC 3.0 channel for my Sony TV to pull in all the guide data. of course if a stations guide data is embedded in their signal, the box would have to tune to that channel in order to receive it.

Unfortunately, it does not have DVR capabilities. It’s simply a device that tunes ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0 broadcasts, and displays the broadcasts on a screen with HDMI.

12 Reasons why OTA DRM ATSC 3.0 TV will fail. Just say NO to (DRM). Tell your USA Government about the Hostile Takeover of (OTA DRM ATSC 3.0 NEXTGEN-TV) issues listed below. DRM (Digital Rights Management) Encrypted TV Station's signals. Why? Some 3.0 tuners at this time require you stay on the internet to decode DRM 3.0 TV Stations. Why? 3.0 Currently no 4K and you only get the Simulcasted main channel and no sub channels. Channel Crawling = super slow channel changing (DRM 5 + seconds slow). No sound because of Dolby AC4 audio codec does not have a legal open source license to decode legally on many devices. Some 3.0 tuners have Out of sync audio to video problems. Private Home Networked OTA antenna tuner boxes like (Tablo TV box) can not get official certified approval for DRM ATSC 3.0 NEXTGEN-TV. Why? You may need non OTA home pay internet for updates and to unlock DRM encrypted ATSC 3.0 tv channels. Possible DRM restrictions on DRM ATSC 3.0 recordings and no viewing anywhere on any device with no sound. Emergency alert messages can not be received if DRM is blocking them. OTA DRM ATSC 3.0 TV will fail because the FCC is not going to turn off ATSC 1.0 TV stations for many years if not enough people buy 3.0 TVs and 3.0 boxes. No one has solve the problem of no government money for free DRM 3.0 TV tuner boxes because 1.0 TV turners and recorders will not work after that TV Station switches to 3.0 TV broadcasts. (Range and signal error correction) OR (more sub channels and near 4k picture) trade off problem. FCC is not forcing any 1.0 TV Stations to move over to 3.0 TV. So some TV stations will be on 1.0 and others will be on DRM 3.0. The FCC is only allowing OTA Simulcasts of the ATSC 1.0 main channel at this time on DRM ATSC 3.0 NEXTGEN-TV. DRM ATSC 3.0 is a not finished product and is a work in progress mix of unproven ideas that has never gotten full FCC approval at this time. Software updates for 3.0 tuner boxes may be needed for changes made to the unfinished and future added new official ATSC 3.0 standards modules. Patent License problems. LG no longer sells TVs with ATSC 3.0 tuners. Some 3.0 TV tuners companies may go out of business or stop updates leaving you with no DRM or software updates. OTA ATSC 3.0 is better but is not perfect and still can be affected by weak tv signals: (distance, weather, planes, trees, buildings, trucks, poor antenna, etc). FCC rules that 5 percent of old ATSC 1.0 coverage area does not need to be covered anymore = (SHORTER RANGE). Viewing zone outside of your 15 minute city or town could be blocked. Your TV viewing habits could be tracked by your serial number or IP address. ATSC 3.0 is updatable until it is not updatable without new hardware tuners (ATSC 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0......). Some of these 3.0 TV issues may be fixed over time. This is only some of the mess with DRM ATSC 3.0 TV. This is my opinion why DRM ATSC 3.0 TV will fail. IMO. Stay on OTA 1.0 TV until DRM is removed from OTA ATSC 3.0 by law. It is the people versus the hostile takeover by private DRM 3.0 TV stations for control over the USA public airwaves. IMO 2024...

The TV makers have already opted out. They need to bring an ATSC 4 to the FCC so they can have tuners which are not subject to licensing. The FCC can demand they remove the DRM and that is exactly what needs to happen.

Wow! You're pretty much right by the transmitter too! It's because Sinclair changed the minimum receive SNR. For some channels it used to be 12 dB to 14 dB for a minimum SNR. Now, all ATSC 3.0 channels in Buffalo require a 21 dB minimum SNR to lock! Keep in mind all ATSC 1.0 stations require a 15 dB SNR to lock, so this is now 6 dB harder to get in! It really, really, sucks. I mentioned this in the interview I did with Dave Arland, an industry insider. Skip to 34:31 : kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6W2eaNpaptqpq8

KZbin flagged my video for copyright at multiple places for showing what was on the TV screen, so I had to edit out certain segments using KZbin’s editor after I had already uploaded it. I spent some time to make the edits as smooth as possible, but KZbin’s editor messed it up. The full unedited video is on Patreon.

It will still work for you with the Zinwell ZAT-600B, without an internet connection. Just know, a 21 dB minimum SNR is needed in order to watch any channels from the WTVJ ATSC 3.0 lighthouse. If you don’t have at least a 21 dB SNR, you won’t be able to watch anything.

ATSC-1 can do nearly any video standard there is a codec for . ATSC-3 should be the same on this. Both are just a method to get bits into your TV over the airwaves. The sender can encode them according to any standard your TV can decode.

Well also remember that ATSC 3.0 NextGen TV is a work in progress so of course not all of the features of NextGen TV are available yet as it is being worked on and will be added on later. Give ATSC 3.0 time to develop for these extra features. Let's not rush into it too fast.

Problem is that that is always the excuse when it comes to atsc 3. Its always issues with drm or something else. Everything is always a work in progress. Why be an early adopter if there always seems to be issues? It seems like almost every atsc 3 box has problems. Seems like every box is a gamble on whether it will work as advertised. No offense, but your coming across as way to apologetic and forgiving for something thats supposed to be an adopted standard. If it barely seems to work properly for early adopters why would anyone take on the cost for something like that?
@djthereplay
@djthereplay 4 ай бұрын
@@peterkozlowski4377 That's the point. Long story short, Too Early Adoption. It's good to try it out to find and show off the kinks in the system but that's what will make it better for all of us in the future when it ultimately becomes the standard and it is all done and put together. However, we are in th early development stages so please don't expect exactly everything to be available right off especially when there is no switchover mandate on this. Stick with ATSC 1.0 for now but it is good to have the ATSC 3.0 capabilities in place for when the real switch happens.

Even with DRM Encryption. here in Germany the Most TV Stations over the air, are Hard Encryptet and have to be Paied. And Over Satelitte almost the Same, the Private HD TV Stations are Encryptet al well, and Pay TV. And They are all "Free TV" With Comercials breakes, not like SKY Premium TV. Thank you for that Interessting Video.

As far as I'm aware the Zapperbox is an ATSC 3.0 DVR. And because it's a DVR, it requires the Internet. You need a subscription to the live guide DVR service ($30/year), which isn't mandatory to get just ATSC 1.0 and unencrypted 3.0. This video was probably meant to show that with the right hardware, it is possible never to connect a capability 3.0 tuner to the Internet and get all your 3.0 stations.
