Yea but similarly to the NFL, they don’t have to really play to get the check, the game just has to commence. So it wouldn’t solve anything. As long as the game happens, they’ll get paid whether on the court or not. You’d need an active and on court rule, not only a per game pay rule.

As a fellow fatso, I agree. Having that extra weight puts so much extra strain on bones and joints, especially in high-impact movements (e.g., jumping up to the basket and landing from that jump). I mean, I have a sedentary office job, yet I've felt compelled to stretch and build better muscles to avoid stressing my joints in various ways. If I wasn't stuck behind a desk the better part of my waking hours, and instead was paid to play ball, you bet your ass I would have lost my extra lard a long time ago. If I was getting $30M+ yearly to produce on the court, I would off-load my food intake entirely on a full-time nutritionist and full-time chef, working alongside my full-time personal trainer(s) to keep me in the best shape I could possibly be. That would be LITERALLY investing in myself, my career and my legacy. Then retire at 35, because I'd want to live my life too and avoid risking my long-term health. At Zion's pay levels, I'd already have enough money to never again do anything I didn't feel like doing. Maybe give back to the community in some way, a gym for youths or something. Decent age to start a family, too.

Zion Williamson is the rebuttal to this generation's belief that it's the best in NBA history purely for its athleticism and that every generation that came before was slow and unathletic. It doesn't matter how talented or athletically gifted you are if you're never on the court. Between players who are delicate and load management, this era is weak. I don't buy the dickish JJ Redick belief that everyone who played before this era was a pasty, slow, gimpy fireman, but even if I did, who is more valuable: a player who is a little slower and can jump just a little less high than Zion but will give you 75 games year in and year out, or a fragile AF Zion who has played all of SEVEN GAMES THIS YEAR?
@Cilent__10 сағат бұрын
This is horrible logic because you're using an outlier and using it to represent the whole generation. Also nobody ever said it was the best just because of athletic ability. You're cherrypicking, and still failing to argue against your cherrypicked argument. 😂😂
@shorewallСағат бұрын
@@Cilent__ Yeah, all we need is to point to Joker and Luka to blow up the argument that this gen is the better than previous one because they are more athletic and talented. Or that players from past eras couldn't play in today's NBA. We can point to the lax enforcement on rules for traveling, moving screens, and offensive fouls. The fact that players don't care about the regular season, so why should the fans? The fact that teams promote pull up 3s instead of getting the ball into the paint. The fact that the NBA doesn't really feel like a competition anymore.

Player empowerment is destroying the NBA. 4. No defense - no physicality. Biased officiating. 5. 3 point shooting and no play in the post. 6. Position less players- everyone wants to shoot and play the point, even the big men. 7. BLM / black oppression / woke entitled mentality despite 90% of the league players being black. 8. ESPN and DEI have ruined sports media. 9. Trump Derangement Syndrome. 10. LePuffDaddy James still playing….he ain’t the 🐐. He has incredibly poor character, from no discipline over his diet, to not reaching out to new teammates, to all the drama he had with “girls of the night” on Twitter. He’s done. It takes years to build character after the personal realization but it’s hard to have that with $200 mil in the bank

I really don't get why N.O. held onto him so long. Now EVERYONE is sitting out games, and they are really trying to figure out why ratings are in the dumpster. I don't spend $ to get the nba package every year, or spend $ to go to a game, and Steph is on the sidelines laughing with his buddy. 🙄 Thought he wanted to compete for another CHAMPIONSHIP? Magic had HIV and he played more than these pampered pansies in today's NBA.

The criticism is warranted but Zion is similar to his generation who are not accountable. They receive so many chances why be accountable when I will get another chance? When Zion came back the comment section of many KZbin channels was that the dunk was amazing. Most people moved on which is why Zion will be all right, he will get another opportunity, and fans will be there to celebrate it.

Zion is a perfect example of the why the NBA needs to go back to the 3 years of college requirement to enter the draft. Imagine if Zion had been forced to play at Duke 2 more years under Coach K. He would have been under better coaching and leadership. He would have been forced to continue working out for a few more years to get that money. He would have developed enough good habits by then that it would have been far less likely he would have fell out of them. Instead he went to Duke for 6-8 months, came into the draft in the best shape of his life, and quickly broke the habits he hadn’t really had to commit to for long.

I knew when they didn't revert the NBA draft rules back further that NBA future was done. It should have been 3-4 years of college required to enter NBA draft, by keeping it 1 year they ruined more than half of these rookie draft picks career/development, they ruined their mental and fundamental development, they took away discipline and value of money for work. You got it exactly. Sometimes I use to think, imagine these guys playing 3 years of college ball and the types of games we'd have, it would be unbelievable. Sadly, a majority of them flake out in the professional working world and can't even develop fast enough to stay in the NBA.

Pretty much everyone called this coming out of college. There was hope but most people figured he was just too big to be able to play healthy for long.

Damn you obviously don’t watch the pels. Willie Green is maybe the worst coach in the nba. The guy still hasn’t figured out how to make Zion and BI work. He hasn’t implemented an offensive system. He doesn’t know how to close games. He hasn’t been able to get some of their stars to buy into what he wants to do offensively even if there is a game plan. The pels have one of the most talented rosters in the nba thats why his record as the coach isn’t terrible
@Ermatinger5039 сағат бұрын
How do you figure out how to make two players work together when they’re never healthy at the same time? Willie may not be the top coach in the NBA, but he’s better than the coach of my team (Blazers). I’d take Willie over Chauncey all day and twice on Sundays
@madisonbordenave48698 сағат бұрын
@@Ermatinger503 bro I have no clue how u can take Willie over Chauncey when the blazers have gone 3-1 against the pels this year and blown them out twice despite having a much weaker roster?? Also they played most of the season together last year and played most of the season together when the team had SVG. Under SVG the team had one of the best offenses in the NBA and BI and Zion worked very well together offensively despite having the least amount of experience playing together at that point. I’m telling you bro Chauncey is a dream compared to Willie he outcoaches him in damn near every game they go up against each other

Contracts should have certain stipulations so that players would make an effort to earn their money. Example - for a $50mil/yr contract, players would get a guaranteed $20mil. Play 60+ games they would get $5m, make an all star team that would be another $5m, be the league mvp another $10m, and so on until they reach $50m. That would certainly change the mindset of players
