Why? Most of the delivery "fees" from things like Uber and Door Dash is because of fuel costs. Electricity to charge a drone battery costs pennies. There's no human who needs to be paid a wage personally delivering it, the drones don't need tips. If anything this once fully rolled out and standardized, should substantially DROP the cost of home delivery for many things.

@Fenthule

It's not about discouraging theft and more about convenience and getting cars off the road from all the delivery companies like Uber, Door Dash, Skipthedishes, Lyft, Etc, etc, etc. You can charge drone batteries with the wind or solar, most of those cars take up space, produce tons of noise, and burn gas.

Easily avoidable. The drone that stays in the sky has a high def camera aimed directly below - anyone cuts the cord for the bottom one or tries to take down the one in the air, and the video feed is instantly forwarded with a 911 call to local authorities, and make it a huge federal offence to damage the drones. Might happen a few times but a couple 10 year jail terms or 50k dollar fines will make that stop quickly lol

pssst. We shouldn't be doing those jobs anyway. It's terrible for wasting gas, fills the roads with cars, and the whole "gig economy" thing is designed so corporations can get away with paying people less or have lower costs - like the fact that the cars maintenance isn't covered by the company like a taxi or limo, it's out of pocket by your delivery person. Or how they pay for a PORTION of the gas you buy, if you're lucky. Late stage neoliberal capitalism has created all kinds of these "jobs" - Airbnb, delivery jobs, everything is contract work and temp jobs, fewer companies can compete with the giant conglomerates that have swallowed up or shut down all the other competitors so they have to cut all costs to even have a chance of competing.

What does the FAA have to say about these? Drones sharing airspace with private and commercial aircraft over a populated area. There are going to be vast no-fly zones over these drones’ preferred operating areas, populated cities. This concept was beaten to death several years ago by Amazon and they couldn’t make a go of it.

Realistically they should be onboard. Of course standard no fly zones like around airports would have to exist for takeoff and landing, but planes and helicopters are substantially higher than 300ft typically. These drones have gone through multiple generations of tests and QA - Mark Robar actually did a video on this company recently. They already use drones (not quite the same but not too different either) delivering life saving blood and medical supplies in Rwanda. If all the delivery drones are communicating with each other and know where everyone is going, they'll theoretically never collide midair, and even if they do they have safety features like automatic parachutes that deploy at sudden altitude loss. And since they're standardized they wouldn't have cameras like personal drones do so the risk of "spying on the neighbors" - which is a genuine concern, is all but gone with these. Honestly the biggest issue I can see is in places like dense cities with high-rises. The drone's THEN might have issues weaving between buildings in high winds directly above vehicles. I'd imagine buildings might want to put communal "delivery pads" on the roofs to maybe get around some of that.

@@_A4A for large deliveries I understand using a vehicle (battery powered bicycles with storage capacity requiring limited pedaling for the win!) We're sending THOUSANDS of people out in their full size, gas burning cars, all across every city, delivering burgers. It's ridiculous and should be banned honestly. Not to mention those companies are hot garbage. They offload a bunch of their costs like vehicle maintenance to the people they pay slave wages to expecting tips from strangers to make up the difference. It's absolutely insane that this is common practice these days. If we can cut a bunch of those vehicles off the road and have drones delivering bags of cat food, burgers, and small grocery top ups, then I say absolutely go for it. These comments are Baffling. In my opinion this is fantastic idea that came to be through trial and error back in the 2010s and it’s a very good Alternative to waiting for a Uber eats delivery that takes much longer to get there. The website also talks about the prices being far better then the other Companies, yet I've seen complaints about it. I want to see it for myself but haven’t because I cannot find the app anywhere, I’d be thankful if someone told me what the app was called. I've also seen a lot of Heckling about thieves Stealing the Dropbox or Shooting the drones down for fun which are both very petty and I can see that happening in the US, however this cannot happen very often because do you honestly think that thieves are going to be paying attention for a quiet drone that blends in with the sky and takes only seconds to drop the package and leave? Do you think Lester Crest is gonna hack the mainframe and find the drones location mid flight? 😂 Also this is a type of thing that people would like to see when it comes down because that's how people are. I'd like to watch a drone drop down my package 😂. I highly doubt that is going to be a very common thing but I believe it could happen cause we all know how people can be. Don't need to talk about how very simple it is to charge the person who requested a delivery for Damages to the drone. But the Interference from others is something else, if the drone is ripped out of the sky and stolen install Tracking on it and recording cameras. If the package itself is stolen for whatever reason the buyer wasn’t coming to get it at that moment, Easiest option is installing a door Cam since most people have them now and prove the package was stolen in the few seconds of it landing and get a refund cause let’s be honest we aren’t running short of anything you bought. Or just Be there when the package lands. it’s really weird to me that it would be such an issue of Package Theft for such a small item which is probably someone’s food, that you Wouldn’t be there when it Arrives when it’s known for its quick delivery. I digress, it’s a small company and these things people are pointing out can be easily diverted. Also target practice? That’s a very small target all the way up in the air for a BB gun to hit man 😂

How is it an invasion of privacy if it does not have a camera. Also dosent google earth spy on everyone? If somebody really wanted to spy someone could easily just get a good camera with a zoom lens and that would be far more effective and easier

Less jobs for sure. People are going to start eating each other. It will be the only way to survive with all this technology going on. I saw 4 robots crossing the street. They looked like boxes on wheels. So I guess they were delivering something. But they were actually rolling down the street and would wait at the crosswalk like a human and cross when allowed.

What about noise pollution, some people SLEEP days and work nights. Not to mention wildlife birds, etc interfering with their natural ability to live. Some animals don't mate for example in certain conditions they feel are not safe. Look at zoo's for example. Sounds like a great idea but many questions.
