without watching.... My reason why: Because of Jonathan and Marc and after that GGGs reputation. Those 2 have won me over time and time again to keep on beeing hype for POE2. The expertise, the reasoning and the discipline to keep that goal in sight is so rare if not unheard off in the gaming industry. i was really nervous with the involvement of Tencent and all the love the shop has gotten to put it mildly. So i always saw the winter coming. But maybe it wont come, at least not in the near future. POE1 kinda stuck with lots of their mechanics in a corner they cant really escape and its not because of the lack of trying. POE2 could be the Ying to the Yang. And..... GGG is loyal enough to their players that it is reasonable to give em good chunk of slack and trust. Something i never said about any DEV Team ever (or company for that matter). For refererence: i am a 42 years old german stubborn son of a bitch with the attitude loyalty and trust needs to be earned and it is not given all my life with one exception - My daughter.

Also important to remember that PoE1 today is nothing like it was back during open beta. You can expect PoE2 to undergo a similar transformation over the years. "Slightly Slower Gameplay." God, I hope this is true even at the highest levels of play. This is my biggest criticism with POE 1. It's all about how fast you can kill something to the point that if you aren't one shotting basically the entire screen every second then you aren't putting out enough damage. I'm exaggerting here, but it really feels like this is how it works. With this type of gameplay it feels like the build is far more important than the way you play to the point where if you don't follow a specific build guide than you are going to have a bad time. W With things like animation canceling and rolling in POE 2, I hope that means skill is a bit more important and that makes builds a bit more freeing.

2:25 Something they mentioned in a previous interview regarding the "getting stuck" was, for one, the monsters in the the earlier demos weren't correctly tuned for their stun calculations and were causing excess stuns, and two, that following the feedback during that demo, they have made the dodge roll also shrink your collision size so that you can slip between the monsters more easily (but still not phasing/intersecting) 2:45 I assume in this section, it is tailored more towards new players rather than existing players, but I don't think labeling skills as "for the Druid" and "for the Mercenary" when PoE (including PoE 2) allows you to use any skill on any class, even if that class doesn't offer more immediate accessibility to that archetype 12:35 Chaos orbs are still in the game, they've just changed the functionality to remove/add instead of reforge. I know this gets addressed at 13:00, but I believe it's important to give accurate info when it is described, and have it edited if the info isn't accurate at that point I assume content crunch played a role in the above points being a bit more "rough", but I just wanted to make note of them, as it's pretty important in a deep dive video to provide as much accurate info as possible, and I think providing inaccurate bits can set expectations for things that aren't there. Great video otherwise, I appreciate having a video that is able to explore the changes without being an hour long.

@adalos195323 сағат бұрын
The problem with lengthy combos is they end up being wasted effort in games where everything is constantly moving. Like with the druid volcano or monk bell, which are cool ideas that only work if the enemies stay in range of its damage when you place it down. If you're continuing to move like in PoE 1 because standing still = death, it becomes problematic because the monsters follow you and then your volcanoes are essentially doing nothing. Nothing feels worse than whiffing hard with combos.
@andrewnash593220 сағат бұрын
Move = death comes as a consequence of the fact that any good build kills the entire screen in one second. You have to instantly kill the player or they will just instantly clear all content with no risk. They are trying to start from the ground up to avoid issues like that and the first step is actually making it take more effort to beat everything. Their intention is to avoid the kind of mistakes they made with PoE 1 powercreep, hopefully they can pull it off.
@tsunamie101520 сағат бұрын
That's kinda why they are slowing the overall speed of combat down, work on more active defenses and allow for cc to play a much bigger role in combat. If you were to look at it through the lense of PoE 1 you would be correct, enemies simply move too fast while you have to keep moving or you die. But that's one huge aspect of the game they've been working on solving/improving with PoE 2 for years now. It was even part of the idea back when PoE 2 was just supposed to be a new campaign and overhaul for PoE.

To me the game looks outstanding as a concept but I am afraid that there will be too much hardcore complexity. GGG tries their best but most POE1 players are people who wants to click one button and clear several screens, not chain several different abilities and skill combos.

As someone who only dabbled in PoE 1 (180h) I really liked the many skills and stuff, but got disappointed, when most builds (if not all) just have 1 super skill and a blink or so. I also didn't like, that mobs are visually very different, but it felt like all could have been just a box you clear without even a second thought, just rushing around, not even really seeing what's on the screen and deleting everything in a blink of an eye. There were also some minor stuff, that was (at least as a new player) annoying: Gambling for the gem slots and colour. Not having a standardized currency was also weird, but I liked how they implemented it in settlers of kalguur, including the in-game auction house. And PoE 2 seems to address everything, that kept me away from enjoying PoE1. I'm very sure, that many, if not all, things I disliked and mentioned are things, many PoE1 vets like or even love, but since afaIu PoE1 will get updated parallel to PoE2, it shouldn't be a big problem (unless PoE2 makes way more money and/or PoE1 makes way less and GGG cuts PoE1 updates down or stops entirely). The only thing I would love to see now getting added is something similar to the the 2 Factions system in Last Epoch, where you can decide, if you want to farm for your gear with higher drops chances and so on or trade for your gear.

I feel like many PoE players will be disappointed. When LE started their first season, there were a lot of people asking for 1-2 button builds. Seems like PoE2 wants to move from this style of playing, at least in the beginning.
@DoctorStrange0120 сағат бұрын
You must've missed the part where Jonathan said it'll be possible. They just don't want to continue the braindead trend of PoE being one button mash and those builds being completely busted too, cause it takes away from the actual gaming experience and dumbs down the game. Looks like all the major changes they did in PoE 2 are to make players more engaged in the actual gameplay and make it less of a "screen clearing simulator", like changes to skills or combat system itself.

Bosses is absolutly not okay , some people like me are not that good in remembering so many different boss animations/behaviour. If theres still an option to go facetanky , like in poe1 , which lets you atleast somehow ignore boss mechanics in loss of dmg.

PoE 2 is the one and only chance to get back to PoE series. I'm PoE veteran with close to 8k hours played but the game soured on me over a year ago and I have zero interest to play original PoR ever again. I will surely try PoE 2 to see how it is and will give it a try. However, things have changed over the years and I do not have time nor will to play a game 4+ hours a day and have it feel like a 2nd job. If PoE 2 does not change its approach to player progression and it will be just PoE in a shinier cost, I will wave it good bye very quickly.

@justespelund7 сағат бұрын
The way they have talked about designing support gems is different than poe1, in current poe every support is basically just %more damage. In poe2, it looks a lot more specialized, meaning fewer skills would have the same core pool of supports they want to use.

I'm gonna play it, but the idea of everything being ramped up to be "Dark Souls" like (Ziz says this over and over) is a big turn off POE1 for me is a fun blast, some big explosions, some crazy mechanics, a way to wind down for a few hours POE2 aiming to be slow and difficult is going to appeal to a very small audience - probably the same people like like Ubers in POE1. Most people don't even try Ubers in POE1, because frankly they are just "hard work", so describing POE2 campaign bosses this way doesn't bode well
@blackomega3423 сағат бұрын
The souls comparisons are braindead and surface level IMO. It's just not that kinda game. In Souls games you can find an S tier weapon in 10 minutes then steamroll the game with it (zweihander), in PoE you need a new weapon every 5 levels or it starts feeling like shit.
@sujimayne23 сағат бұрын
Everything is Dark Souls to people now. Boss? DS. Dodge? DS. Respawn? DS. Seriously? PoE1 is about quantity of interactions. PoE2 is about the quality of interactions.
@sujimayne23 сағат бұрын
Ziz only compares it to Dark Souls because he's pretty much only ever played PoE, Diablo and FS games. In DS, you have a very linear upgrade path that almost solely revolves around your weapon. You can find an OP weapon early on and use it throughout the game just by upgrading it. There is no item level and no rarity. In PoE, 1 and 2, you will constantly be swapping to better weapons as you progress and have to consider synergies with your skills and your skill tree.
@xKam4hLx22 сағат бұрын
@@sujimayne at least someone in this channel plays something different than ARPGs and FS games... yea, I don't even think PoE2 is equal to any FS game ever, and I'm still hyped for it. (and people don't do many Ubers on PoE1 because they are NEVER rewarded, it's extremely RNG heavy, plus no mechanics, just deal a lot of damage to skip phases and pray for loot).
