Kilwa kinda feel like playing Portugal, just nice and easy. A bit of colonial stuff and mostly wars with nations you should not be able to lose.

if you clear the natives in the colony it will turn it culture and it religion to yours after it reach some number of population

Something I like doing when playing in Indonesia is vassalizing Majapahit. They have a colonist in their national ideas, so your colonization is a bit faster.

You could also have vassalized and converted either Tidore or Ternate to make them colonize for you
