I think when pedophiles say things like they did it because they were depressed because when they are normal and happy they can suppress their tendencies but whenever they are depressed they cannot stop themselves from doing what they keep thinking about. They don't want accountability for their actions, they want to try and feel better instead. This is putting the desires of their ego above the health and well-being of a child which causes damage that science is only beginning to understand. But it does explain why my childhood was so shattered when I was raped at 12 by an adult family member. There is still so much to learn and the more the victims speak up the more we will learn is happening. I suspect it is many more boys than we know of because boys are trained to shut up more than girls. Look at the Boy Scouts that just got hit with 82,000 abuse cases. I never knew how many other victims existed, I felt so alone the WHOLE time. I also feel bad for pedophiles after processing my situation and how he became obsessed with me and asked me to marry him when I was 19 at his brother's wedding. He was so pathetic and didn't grow at all because he was in his delusions. Thinking we had a chance for love and happy marriage after I woke up to him raping me at 12 is so pathetic I feel bad for him. I wish he would grow, learn, and become a person that can give back things that help and support others to be healthier. I think they are traumatized by the abuse that is so rampant in our culture and they go after children at a very specific age in many cases which makes me wonder if they were stunted in growth. When you see many priests who will target hundreds of kids and they are all specific ages like 8-9 it makes me wonder if he was stunted at 8-9 and didn't mature past that so he was unable to connect to women his age. Perhaps they choose to be priests because they are so screwed up women don't want to date them. I wonder if they deal with the trauma, could some be supported into maturing as I have? Working to process how we feel and mature is hard work that many don't have time for because of how we function. Unfortunately, if you work to mature by seeing the full truth and processing that without denial. Getting older does not make us more mature, now I think we SHOULD be ashamed when we grow older yet fail to work to grow more mature.

I did some research so sorry if anything is unclear due to translation errors but basically in Germany if you’re 14 you’re allowed to be in (sexually active) relationships with anyone who is up to 21 as long as the minor is “mature enough”, consenting and not getting paid. So if there are rape accusations or something similar a judge would take the “visible” maturity as well as the possibly given consent into account which, in some cases, makes it hard for rape victims to be taken seriously. If you’re 16 however it doesn’t matter how old your partner is, they can be 21+, which again makes it hard for rape victims because there’s always the “consent” and “maturity” factor. I really hope they make these age gaps smaller and are stricter when it comes to sexual assault. A 14 year old should not have sex or be intimate with a 20 year old, same goes for a 16 year old and someone who’s like 30, in my opinion.

When my sibling's story came out, it casted every interaction I have with that brother in a new, terrible light. Years later, after my family has been destroyed (for multiple reasons, but this was kind of the catalyst), and I can finally admit it: my brother groomed me. I'm 19 now. This all happened over a decade ago. It took me this long to look the truth in the eyes, and it only happened because I'm still dealing with unexpected repercussions of those events, from all those years ago. There's no one left for me to come forward to... even if I did, no one would believe me, except maybe that sibling... the best I can do is heal.

What I meant by my comment was: it’s Zoe’s mother’s fault that Zoe is an adult with the maturity of a middle school girl. She’s incapable of taking any real accountability for her actions. She admitted to what she did yet said the boy consented and that they were best friends... undermining the fact that the boy is a victim. The boy can’t consent because he’s a child and their “friendship” was inappropriate to begin with. Her mom not finding it strange that her daughter was spending time with a 12 year old is a red flag. Then Zoe gets caught and faces backlash and her mom says “you all don’t know what you’re talking about” and “it was just a kiss” and “he’s her best friend” is also a red flag. She’s making excuses and won’t hold Zoe accountable for the fact that she preyed upon him. I don’t know you and you don’t know me.
