My 75 year old mom discovered she was being overcharged by the building she lives in here in Chicago. Zoe’s mom overheard her conversation at the bank with me on the phone. I followed Zoe’s story for years as well but never thought she would have to step in and help my mom. At every turn my mom was being told she couldn’t get help and Zoe stepped in on her behalf and wrote letters to CHA and the property management company that has my mom’s lease and got my mom restitution!!!!!! The way I am fuming right now! They did this to my grandma when she was in her 80s. My father was on the deed as well and he was taken care of the property trying to fix it up for renters in the Bronzeville area. My family still owns the land, which is very similar to the story of this young woman. However, we are struggling with the taxes. They are hoping we lose the property as we did with other properties on that same block before. my grandmother’s family owned that property since 1950 something according to the deed. This has to be stopped! I’m not sure what kind of rights we have now but just hearing this is making me so freaking angry.

I'm 9min in and this is true of chicago. This happened to my grandparents. Long story short, the city was trying to take my grandparent's home for a house they lived in since the late 70s-early 80s. The value of the property has risen because it is in such close proximity to downtown, the lake and the river. This is happening to a lot of people and the city is corrupt. They eventually sold the house which was in bad shape and my grandma died of a broken heart because she lost the home generations of family members grew up in. They knocked her house down, made a new one which sold for maybe $700k. 💔💔💔💔💔💔

This happened to my friend's garage on 71st/Vernon in Chicago. Another way property can get stolen is when the mortgage company will stop accepting your mortgage payments. At that point, the tenant needs to save the mortgage payments and make sure the taxes are paid up. When the owner goes to court, they can hand over the mortgage payments to the judge. That should resolve the issue. Your guest is telling the truth. This is happening to a lot of people in that area. This happened to two of my friends. One in the Auburn Gresham area and the other one is in the Woodlawn area. These two neighborhoods are not far from each other.

last year i got a boot on my car because of these criminally enforced city stickers and when i paid my tickets and additional fees off they took off the boot and then put another one on the next day. when i called the city and asked why, they accused me of taking the boot off and then towed my car from my job. after spending about $2000 in extra fees, i tried to do some investigating and the people in multiple city buildings told me that no one would touch my paperwork because they don’t want to get in trouble but at the same time NO ONE knew why they didn’t want to touch my paperwork🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 everyone kept passing my paperwork to someone else. i had to go all the way downtown and even they didn’t know. i looked for a lawyer and the lawyer told me i would win my case but wont get enough money back to afford to pay a lawyer. chicago is ran by gangsters. even our airport is named after a criminal. it’s the real gotham city. mlk got chased out in the 60s. that should tell you everything.

Thanks so much I have been going thru something similar with my home Here in Delaware. Yes all states take advantage of our communities and no lawyers no judges no one in "Position" fights to change this Anywhere and they give the run around until your tired or hope someone younger will continue the fight I appreciate the motivation I've been fighting since 2015 and this gives me hope to keep going.
