Always loved the way the harmony dramatically shifts into minor mode during the line "All is well", foreshadowing ironically the fates of the characters. it's only years after that I realized it was a David Bowie cover, now I understand why I was so hooked on that song, that was Bowie's genius.

This song has such a key part of my life growing up watching star ship troopers, to then in later years of adolescence thinking more deeply into everything.. the coming of age years we all share at some point of our lives I suppose. In some aspects plays out exactly the same as it did in the film, life and loss is about to become real and all the challenges ahead. What a beautiful piece of art this song is. @@telengardforever7783 I buy CDs. It is funny because there are now people dumb enough to buy Vinyl records again. lol ... The reason Sony now tells people "Vinyl sounds better than CD" when Sony said the exact opposite for four decades is because you can't rip mp3s from Vinyl Records the way you can with a CD. The fact is, CDs sound far better than Vinyl Records. And SACDs and DVD-Audios sound far better than CDs. But, the difficulty of setting up a SACD player made that format fail. And Sony was too greedy to let the DVD-Audio format succeed, so it failed.

Thank you SO much for posting this! I've been agonizing over who performed this song ever since I saw the movie when it first came out. I'm the biggest Bowie fan, and to do a cover of one of his songs at least as good as, if not better than, the original is no small feat. The only other example I can think of is Midge Ure's version of "The Man Who Sold The World" - possibly even better than Bowie's. We miss you, David. Hope to still be listening to your genius the next time I reincarnate, when you'll be considered merely contemporary and not 200 years ahead of your time.
