Good luck, Debbie! It’s going to be very hard and disheartening at times, but wonderfully fun as well. Find the usefulness and magic in everything your teachers teach and ask from you.

I'm a 37yr old single mum and I'm finally able to start my first university course next year! I've been wanting this for so long while being a mum and working as a dressmaker all this time. I'm enrolling in a double bachelor for business and fashion design and thankfully the school has been amazing to make sure I have everything I need. I have been taking all of your advice on starting school again and I really appreciate it, thank you!
When I was in fashion school in Canada during the Stone Age, accommodations were not a thing. I don't even think we had a counsellor. We went to the bathroom, balled your eyes out, pulled up your socks and returned to class like nothing happened. Eight lives later, I teach at a fashion school in NB and we have counsellors, learning strategists, and accommodations. I also have an autistic student who was refused entry 5 years ago because they thought he could not succeed. He's doing great. Thankfully things are changing. Thanks for letting people know it exists

I’m considering fashion school at 27, after having done my masters in luxury brand management 3 years ago. I’ve been following your channel since the past 2 years after I discovered my passion for fashion and I couldn’t thank you enough for the work you do! This video yet again comes in at one of the perfect timings 🙏🏼 and at this point I’m just hoping it’s not to late to go #backtoschool Much love 🫶🏼✨

Much love from Nigeria 🇳🇬 . I absolutely love your teaching, its been the best for me so far. Could you do a video on the requirements of a fashion school? I mean what are those things that should be put in place before establishing a fashion school. If possible, a curriculum inclusive. There are a lot of fashion schools in my country but only a few can boast of high standards. Thank you😊

Loved this! Perfect timing as I'm looking at and considering whether or not to go back to school and *officially* switch career fields. I have also noticed that the people who are genuinely interested in and curious about how things are done/made/how it works tend to ask the most detailed questions and in turn learn so so much about the subject. I've also found that study channels and other students on youtube say that tricking yourself into being genuinely curious about something helps you to retain that information much better!

The one thing I'm looking forward to, in addition to learning and being in a program, is making friends. I live in Arkansas. It is where cultured worldly people go to die. Believe it or not U of A has a pretty great Fashion Degree in regard to the textile / science / business side, but I'm aiming at ASU. But there aren't really many like minded people here. I'm a dude, and the guys around here aren't exactly blowing their gaskets over Gucci and things like the Met Gala. Bud Light and duck season, that's about it. Will be so great to just to talk to people about design period. Thanks Zoe.

I went to what appears to be a vocational school. Which set clear rules and guidelines to design garments. I say vocational because I didn’t encounter passion/creativity project as what a gown would take to make. That question you tackled was perfect because that’s the question I should have asked. But I’m also sure that through fashion education and entering the industry. You can just not feel it right. Like it is not matching. That is why I’ve withdrawn myself. But I love fashion design and kept creating at home. It now seems that each garment I create is designed as an insult to the industry or shade if you may. And the more it is well made the more it achieved its goal. (I’m not feeling it better since then). I’m not a terrorist. But also why would I turn back around for a chance or validation. It’s almost like getting to a job interview expecting to hear « Do you regret having made the garments you previously made ? ». « No ? Then what are you doing here ». Finding myself at a job interview I’m not sure I’d say no. I did do a lot of what you said while I was there though. That’s gonna look ugly on your comment section I bet. Sorry haha. I did think about taking an appointment but it’s mostly my feelings my cards are dealt and somewhat clear. I’m not much of a stuntman.

You're absolutely right, it is important to make friends in school (and to keep them, which can be tricky) & to try get some work experience while you're there (without being taken advantage of). It's wild that the student who never spoke to you was the one who had a gripe (&made it racial!), it goes to show that communication is key even if it might be unpleasant. I think I was guilty of being the reverse ass-kisser and I may have traumatised some the lecturers who were reading my essays 😅 But I really wanted to immerse myself in the experience & throwing myself into it was the best way I could do it at the time. Although I was a "mature" student, had a load of personal issues & only spent a short time studying fashion fulltime, I wouldn't exchange the experience for anything in the world 🥰 If anyone is thinking about studying & doing fashion - please just do it!

Hello Zoe ! Thank you again. Do you have a video about how to determine if a color belongs to a spring summer or winter collection? Because I find it confusing , sometimes i watch a summer collection and watch a fall collection sometimes the colors are exactly the same.
@zoehongteaches2 ай бұрын
A single color doesn't necessarily belong to a season. It's more about a story of colors being light and fresh or soft and cozy. Texture (fabrication) plays a big role too. A soft coral gauze is summery and a fuzzy coral mohair makes a great fall sweater.
@AlMacthomOtinguey2 ай бұрын
@@zoehongteaches how the saturation of a color? Because some people says bright and warm for summer and for winter it's more toned downed colors? Thank you again Zoe.🙂
@zoehongteaches2 ай бұрын
@AlMacthomOtinguey saturation depends on the brands color usage. Some brands are known for using mainly neutrals, etc
