Your car conversation about money really hit a resonant note with me. Honestly, I love to watch your money resets and reflections because as a fellow anxious girlie, it makes me feel encouraged that you are a real person who struggles sometimes too. I only get disheartened watching the KZbinrs who invest thousands every month and budget perfectly every time. You make me feel like I've got this! You certainly don't owe it to us, but thank you for sharing the lows as well as the highs.

Zoe, thank you for being real with us. Talking about money anxiety is very relatable. Please ignore anyone in the comments who says anything negative about you expressing sadness over missing out on something you were looking forward to. Your problems and feelings are valid. I watch all of your videos and when you we're having an amazing fun summer and putting less pressure on yourself to work constantly I was 1) very proud of you as that's something I am trying to find balance with myself 2) worried that financial bottom would fall out eventually (so to speak). You may not get to have the ski lessons in the winter but you got to have an incredible international vacation, other trips, and time with friends / family in the summer. I'm in the same position financially right now, we can't have it all, we can't work less / enjoy life more and also get all of the things we want. It really sucks sometimes. When you're feeling the loss of something, try to remind yourself of what you got to do instead. Keep tinkering on that work-life balance, it'll be ok
@ccblue138 күн бұрын
As a 30 something that still hasn't figured out life yet, you are so not alone for feeling overwhelmed when life be lifing and adulting kinda sucks a lot of the time. for me its usually the feeling of losing control over my life than the situation itself that makes me get overwhelmed. And you are a fantastic role model not because you execute perfectly, but because you push thru all of the trials tribulations and setbacks of achieving your goal. Which is hugely important to share how normal it is for things to got wrong, popup, and pivot when necessary. You're doing great girlie, keep it up ♥

Your emotions around money anxiety really resonant with me. I have a constant dread of running out of money or falling behind, and on days or weekends that I treat myself, I have the biggest financial hangover. I have a lot of money invested, and a high paying job, but I have to constantly remind myself of that. Unfortunately, the constant fear of not doing well enough is something that I think people like you and I will need to live with forever. The best we can do is take an objective step back and realize in the grand scheme of things money will come and go, but time only goes. As long as we live happily today without sacrificing tomorrow, that's the best we can do. Thank you for keeping that part in the video, Zoe, I hope you buy those Ski passes without guilt.

Well said! I’m 40 and I feel this is 100% true. I sort of realized in my early to mid 30s money comes and goes. But unless I win the lottery there will always be at minimum a whisper of anxiety around money. Especially as life evolves from buying a house, having kids and trying to maintain some joy with occasional new clothes, manicures, hair color/cut, gifting, pets, or travel.

Your money chat is sooo relatable. My husband and I actually just had an emotional chat yesterday because the whole time we've been together we've been hit with expensive home repairs to the point where for the last two years we haven't been able to build an emergency fund, invest, or spoil ourselves. I have a hard time seeing all KZbinrs that are able to save, invest, or pay off large amounts of debt because it makes me feel like I'm slacking. I just have to remind myself that we are all in different places in our lives and that we will get there eventually. I also wanted to say buy that skiing pass! You have to have an outlet for when times get tough. Even if it means you run low on money this month, it'll be your way to shut off the stress and anxiety next month. My outlet is that I read and my husband games. We will always make room for that in our budget so that we can have that reset for when times get tough. Just know that you aren't alone! We will never judge you for being honest with us

I was watching you earlier this year and gravitated away in the summer--not sure exactly why. Maybe your lifestyle felt unattainable to me in the moment (I was jobless and didn't realize I was really really depressed 😪 You live and you learn). But the title of this one caught my eye and I'm glad I came back. Good to see Maggie has made progress with her separation anxiety and to see you cooking so much. And its nice to know that we all struggle with money, no matter how we spend it or how much we make. Wishing you well, and I'll be tuning back in :) Get your ski on, girl!

Let´s be clear here, crying over our own problems is fine time to time. Everyone has their own problems and issues to deal with, but people who are saying things like " uh, you shouldn´t complain or cry, first world problems hello!?!?" but the thing is, that dosen´t help... I´ve followed you Zoe for a couple of years now and showing everyting as it is, makes you vlogs more relatable and real, which is the ponit, right? And being upset for not contributing to your investments is not bad or being silly, it just shows that you care about it. This wasn´t such a uplifting maby, but just to say that it will be fine, you will solve it somehow, you have JS. Cheers keep up the money vlogs to!

Have you talked with Jean about the ski expense? Do you truly feel "obligated" to go?? There's many other cold weather ventures you two can take that won't break the bank. Surely he'll understand right. Sit it out if it keeps you on track with your goals but don't beat yourself up about it. The slopes aren't going anywhere. It's okay to decline or take a raincheck. It doesn't make you less of a person.

From one fellow anxious about money mtl girlie to another, you deserve that ski pass and that middleground of just doing the ski pass is honestly a really good idea! there's a reason you have savings and it's for situations like this! this period of not putting money in your investments is so short in the grand scheme of things, a few months is not changing your ultimate goals and you are doing amazing, and i can only see everything going up for next year! Especially with the weather we have you NEED to invest in stuff for the long winters that is good for your mental health and I promise you in a few months you won't even remember feeling like this at all! 2024 has been a rough year “Financially” for many people, with inflation and all the different things that has been happening it’s easy to become overwhelmed. Is it possible that your budget fell victim to inflation, meaning that if you budgeted just say $200 for groceries last year and try to buy it this year, that 200 won’t buy the same things and as a result the money isn’t going as far, making you feel stretched? Just a thought and curious if this is a possibility. I had my highest income of the year in October and still had a deficit for the month. Not normal for me but something this year has been definitely not normal and Christmas is expensive as you said, so that adds stress. Keep pushing forward, things usually work out. Can’t let this moment derail you. I like your vlogs as it’s real and gives insight into your life. Cheers to better days ahead.

Money is a tool, not a master. It's meant to support your journey. Plan wisely, sure, but don’t forget that the best things in life can’t be bought. Living, laughing, enjoying every day to the fullest. And if it means skiing instead of dreading long Canadian winter then go for it. And obviously no one should be reckless and spend above their means but you're on a great path, you do have savings, you do have investments etc. You are just starting to find your way with your career and you will find it but as that is happening you shouldn't hold your breath. Life it too short not to live every day to the fullest. It is very corny saying but absolutely true. 🍀🍀🍀
@UghUgh12348 күн бұрын
I’m telling you, this will 100% help with the money anxiety. I know it doesn’t help this very moment, but it will help next year. At the end of 2024, add up all of your “annual” bills and stuff (annual subs, ski pass, Christmas, birthdays, etc). Divide it by 12 and save that much each month. Since a lot of the heavier items fall to the end of the year, it makes it suck and it shouldn’t! “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”, but it’s hard work to make it true 🤍

You need to give yourself grace, as you mentioned you did not pay yourself from the business last month, so its understandable why you feel stressed. In December please look at some of your biggest annual expenses for the year and budget sinking funds for them in 2025. You can setup sinking funds for Christmas, Ski pass, fitness watch, car insurance and start saving up for them from January. The months when your income is higher than expected you can max out your sinking funds first to make up for the months with lower income.

You are NOT alone in feeling overwhelmed and strapped financially. I think a lot of Canadians are feeling the pinch :( It can be all consuming and scary and stressful all at the same time. Have you heard of Marley Rose Harris? She talks a lot about clearing the subconscious and limiting beliefs around money. I think you could benefit from checking out some of her meditations or podcasts on clearing the fear of not having enough money, or the fear of money leaving etc. I downloaded her app (its not cheap....) but I suggest trying out the 14 day free trial. It's helped me deal with some fears in my life :)

You are so far ahead of many many people? My suggestion as a middle-aged woman... give yourself a few months maybe 6 to breathe. Don't worry about your investments. They will continue to grow and you can get your emergency fund built back up, get through the holidays and enjoy the season.

Your anxiety around money is sometimes unrealistic, you live a very privileged life, spend a good amount of money on ‘whole foods’ , dress in expensive clothing and here you are acting as if you’ll be poor tomorrow.
