So, I was out of town when this video was uploaded, so I'm *finally* getting to watch this batrep 6 months late, from one of my favorite OPR KZbinrs. I was impressed at your willingness to play through the entire match. At first I was thinking, "why is this game still going?" but as it continued I was cheering you on and you did get a pretty epic photo op there towards the end. I'm envious of your painting ability and the *quantity* of finished models is really impressive. I know you've uploaded another batrep since this one, so I'll be checking it out ASAP. This was a great concept and really fun, definitely something I will try out. Now that you have come up with this concept I think it would be easy to add some minor variations, like including groups of civilians as objectives who are rescued and armed with pistols if reached first by HDF or converted to zombies if reached first by zombies. For unit activations, your card system seems better and the dice-rolling seems necessary only in order to have a D6-based mechanic available, which is what the ruleset as a whole uses.

Might give the ai rules ago for gang wars. Painted up three necromunda gangs but had no chance to play with friends yet.

Yep. I will be honest and admit that at one point I did think about canning it and changing things when it became very obvious what the outcome was going to be, but then I thought why does it matter? It's just a bit of fun

Dont worry about your buildings for this game... Think of them as burned out from fires that first responders couldnt deal with due to being overwhelmed

I'm planning on doing something similar to this for age of fantasy. Found out if you do a 2000 point game for vampiric undead they can have over 300 zombies. So one of these days I'm going to start printing those off and just doing quick contrast paint jobs.

Thanks for the battle report, those zombies were pretty beefy and those guns just didn't seem to do nearly enough damage. Maybe for a part 2 you should have the zombie force from this battle attacking a human stronghold since the humans were pushed back to their regional command bunker from the assault! As a fan of solo games you should definitely give some rules from Nordic Weasel games a shot, like the sci-fi 5 Parsecs From Home, Chromehammer Ascension, and their fantasy solo rules 5 Leagues From the Borderlands. They have pretty easy to follow rules, fun mission generation, and decent Ai mechanics that are pretty fun!

Yep, I've got a few ideas for some follow-on episodes, including something similar to what you suggest but thanks for the ideas. I do actually have 5 Leagues from the Borderlands but have never actually played it.

It's the Battle of Yonkers from World War Z! (The book, not the movie). I have a set of AI rules that are generic that I need to polish up and get published -- it would be fascinating to refight this as my rules try to add more randomness to movement. Great video, though! I like the Tower Defense like setup.

I'm curious if you would consider using the Extra Actions from the Advanced Rules (in the Full Rulebook - if you have it). The Zombies wouldn't be smart enough to do any of them (and the way the AI rules work, it would preclude using any of them anyways for Melee Units). Well, they could use one of them "by accident" (charging from a very specific range of movement), same with the Demons. The HDF, on the other hand, will benefit greatly from one of them - and nothing says it doesn't stack with the Commander's Take Aim (so long as all of the other conditions are met). ;P I'm being vague since these are paid-for rules. I probably shouldn't blab about them in depth if you either don't have 'em or plan on using 'em. lol

Mortar groups: You could have the 2-man team 'abandon' the weapon, and they become standard HDF troops.

The HMGs could have had targeting devices (+1 to hit), which would have given them a better chance to hit.

To be fair, with this episode I gave myself a massive ponts disadvantage because the original version of the AI rules was just so easy to beat and I just assumed that the new version would be too. I was wrong.

Hi there. Some of it is from Mantic, some of it is MDF terrain from somewhere on eBay (exactly where I can't remember I'm afraid).
