Thank you for the video! Great discussion, especially about activation and using ambush, as well as building lists. Regarding "immovable" infantry blob - I have won few games against HDF player deploying them. It has a lot of wounds, but also has several weaknesses. First, it is a perfect target for units (e.g. artillery) with blast. Second, it has poor defense (5+), so any attacks or spells (especially HEF Destroyer dealing 7 hits) will decimate it. And last, it is poor in melee. It does not have any AP and rarely all its units can strike, so walker with good melee (e.g. HEF Wraith Walker) will hurt it without suffering any wounds. Please do more Grimdark Tactics :)

Excellent video. I'm just building a 5th Valour Korp for a 750pts campaign. This video gave me some excellent ideas. Thank you gentleman!

While I'd been meaning to start a Guard/HDF army using Wargames Atlantic's "Les Grognards" for a while, when the company started their "The Damned" (read: Renegades & Heretics) crowdfunding campaign, I pivoted to that completely. I pledged for 5 boxes, and got to watch as stretch goal after stretch goal was met. Including a frankly ridiculous number of free sprues (that you could choose individually). The campaign just ended today, as of this writing, and it was a rousing success. We even unlocked the APC, which no one thought we'd ever manage. So Wargames Atlantic has at least one vehicle. Along with two genders of infantry, command, cavalry, ogres, heavy weapon teams AND field artillery, heavy infantry (read: stormtroopers), hounds (+ handlers), and beastmen. All kits being more or less compatible with each other. When they open the system up again to let backers finalize their selections, I'm going to have a whale of a time filling out my collection using the free sprues. I easily have two extra boxes worth of just infantry kits. I'm largely not bothering with what will really be mechanically viable. I just want a little bit of everything. I can expand and focus later, when I've got everything painted that I'll receive here. What I like about a "traitor!Guard" force is, in Grimdark Future, I can freely mix in units from other army lists. So I'll grab the mutants and hounds from Age of Fantasy, and run the Beastmen as a squad of cultists. I've also had a mind to start learning how to sculpt my own models out of oven-bake clay and armature wire, so I could throw some Daemon Spawn in there as a mobile, Tough(6) beatstick. The campaign will take something like a year to fulfill - lots of work bringing the kits from 3d renders to sprues out of the machine - so I'll have a while to experiment. Which is good, because I don't think I'm going to be able to buy new models for a while. What with backing this.

Nice to hear that you had a great deal with your crowdfunding! Enjoy painting all those miniatures! :)

I ended up using Les Grognards in my own army and I love those models. They really fit into the Warhammer setting and it's nice that they've got infantry, support weapons, cavalry, and a command staff. I recommend them once you've recovered financially lol.

Hi guys, love that the videos keep coming! For those of us that don't play the armies in question, it can be a little confusing and hard to be really into the conversation. Would you consider putting some images of the models and their statlines up on screen when you're talking about them? It would definitely increase my interest when hearing your excellent thoughts regarding armies I don't play.

I love running 2 Attack Vehicles running with Fusion cannon and heavy fusion rifle and Strider, 2 AT with AP4 Deadly 6 is tough for my opponent. They are very squishy but it forces opponent to do something about them.

I like the idea and also thought about it. But that was when we were mainly playing 1500 games and I already was too limited. It's a different story with 2000+ points

Great episode, guys!! Dumb comment, but DAO Union is pronounced as each letter, like you would pronounce HDF. So you wouldn't say "Dao", but "D A O". Forget what each letter stands for 😅

Thanks for the input on this one and clarifying the pronounciation!

Do you run the company leader with psy by himself or run in a unit? I always used the take aim but honestly like the idea of annoying leader running around and buffing

I try to have him independent when leaving him at my artillery but often had the problem reaching my unit limit. Should be different now playing more points.

@@tyrion7227 Ya my group loves playing 2500. Feels like that extra 500 gives you the ability to beef unit or add more.

@@control745I agree. So far I think 2.5k - 3k is the sweet spot playing GDF.

Wo habt Ihr übrigens Eure transparenten objective points her?

Dankeschön. :) Mal sehen, was die Zukunft bringt. Such nach "Jucoci Objektiv-Maker".

@klauszoidberg999 Жыл бұрын

tanks are squishy? not in the slightest. minimum loadout on battletanks make them super tough for their points. but yes: themore weapons you give the battle tanks the less tough they become...
@tyrion7227 Жыл бұрын
Are you refering the part about the conscripts later? Nobody says squishy, it's about the relative points per effective wounds. Yes, they are tough and I enjoy using them but when holding objectives some options might be more point-effective. Except again 6 wound tanks which Van be very vulnerable top anti-tank weapons, but Thema again the enemy doesn't hit your "real" tanks
