the perfect not-shaky camera movement in the intro is the most underrated part of this video

You should get in to Mocha AE for planar tracking like this, it's pretty powerful when it comes to compositing matte paintings.
@RobBrownTV8 жыл бұрын
For sure! I dabbled a bit with the planar tracking and it's far superior than how I did it.

ahh, thanks for the nice comment! It's not hard, but the software is fiddly at times. If you start small, like adding one simple extension it would be pretty quick work. you should try it for sure.

Outstanding piece really enjoy watching and listening. i have not used PS but have Sketchbook Pro. Even with this I am a bit reluctant to jump in, any suggestions how I can move forward?
@RobBrownTV8 жыл бұрын
I would probably figure out an art or design goal (painting environments, compositing, vfx, whatever it may be), then figure out where your talent lies (can you do math, are you a natural drawer, do you have an eye for lighting? etc..), and do some research on how the two relate. Then point yourself that direction and learn as much possible along the path. Don't be afraid to make a goal, put your head down and run for it. Yes there will be mistakes, and corrections, but the point is.. sitting still and not moving will never get you there!!! Hope that helps, cheers.

What camera you have?

All of this was shot on a canon G7x. I love that little camera for travel. I am now shooting on a Lumix G7, it's a lot harder but the picture is a bit better for daytime.

Rob Brown Oh uhm yeah, Iw as just here for this: www.elitepvpers.com/forum/artist-battles/4142862-e-pvp-artwork-month-65-a.html It is a contest for mattepainting :D And your video is linked there :) In the second comment at the end :D But looks too complex for me, I do not think that I can make this with my basic Gimp Skills :D If you make only Art Videos I subscribe, but I think you make a lot more, that does not fit to me :)
@RobBrownTV8 жыл бұрын
Hey, that's pretty nice. Glad they liked the video. Yeah, it can be pretty hard, I'm on the second one, and I'm redoing it because it looks like crap to me. Yeah, sorry it is not all art videos. Honestly, I don't like the pressure of drawing on camera, but I do like talking about the industry and how to move forward in it. Thanks for the comment!
@Loony_BeLuna8 жыл бұрын
Rob Brown I did create today this: i.imgur.com/gUgOets.jpg But I'm not really happy with it... my fantasy is better as my gimp skills :/ I'm sure I will get not a single vote for my ugly skills :D Like always^^.

rob , is it possible for an international student like myself to get into ArtCenter even if I don't have the money ? If I'm good enough
@RobBrownTV7 жыл бұрын
I know Korea has a program to help students. I am not sure about your country. The big financial help in the US is basically a giant loan from the government. I suspect there are a lot of unknown opportunities, especially if you plan on coming back to your country to help others learn too.

Hey! I really enjoyed this video. I am 19 and work at a small print shop as a (noobie) graphic designer with basic adobe programs DOWN, but the imagination and patience needed KILLS ME. Trying to stay motivated. Thanks for the cool vid.
@RobBrownTV8 жыл бұрын
Damn a print shop would be awesome to get your own posters rolling, you try illustrator?
@euphoriaorphan8 жыл бұрын
yeah I've used all adobe programs enough to figure out how i could make somethin cool with them, but after working 8 hours on boring jobs, i go home and don't want to see another cursor D:. I would love to get posters rolling! if i could finally draw clothes on my sketches xD

Looks awesome. I'm primarily a video editor that uses Vegas, but I'm trying to learn the ropes of other tools to broaden my horizons. Thanks :)
@RobBrownTV8 жыл бұрын
This is literally the 5th video I have done in Premier, and my 3rd using After Effects, before that I did everything in Vegas. I was so lost when I switched, then I saw 'Vlog Editing Tutorial - Ben Brown'. Now I love Premier, and it's way faster for me. So super happy you dug the video.
@morrman33508 жыл бұрын
Wow! Hopefully I can be as fast in picking it up. I only recently made the jump from Paint.NET (with a lot of plugins) to photoshop. The transition is rough, but Photoshop is a lot easier to use and is much more efficient.
@RobBrownTV8 жыл бұрын
The nice thing is once you get one of them down they start to make sense with each other, the synergy between the three is pretty amazing. Even though I only have a few sessions with AE and PP, I have a ton of years with Photoshop, so that helped a lot.

how did you get the smoke plumes to move? Did you animate them, or were they still and I just imagined it? Fantastic work though! :)
@RobBrownTV8 жыл бұрын
Good eye! They were super simple, with very subtle movement. Just throw a warp distortion (liquify?) on it, and animate a couple smudges and it looks pretty decent.
@coolcam0558 жыл бұрын
Rob Brown Awesome! Thanks for the tip! I'm currently writing a post apocalyptic short film, and although I have smoke plume stock footage, it's always nice to see new, somewhat better plumes. Thanks again! :)
@RobBrownTV8 жыл бұрын
I considered stock, but when I watched far off plumes of real smoke, I saw that they hardly move at all. ..thankfully ;)
