At this point in time there is no cure for these individuals if they had rabies, the reason they would not think it's rabies is because you have people with half a skull still walking around. That is not how rabies works, extremely rare but if it does cause you to go mad you will be more aggressive but you won't go actively hunting people walking slowly hunched over with your arms extended. Yeah, I think the director panicked when they realized they were back in that room without body props ready to go, so they just had Martin say that lampshade-line. "Hang a lampshade on it" is a film term for "we can't really explain this thing, so we will just have a character go 'Huh, X-Thing is wierd, isn't it?' and then everyone just forgets it happened.

How does going from stable to unstable back to stable cause a blow up

Who knows but an excuse or Reason could be found easily, it could be that when it was in an unstable state it would cut off the flow of certain gases or even cut off electrical supply to whatever is going on inside of there, if it didn't receive the right signals it could be tricked into thinking its stable, then it will reinitialize electrics as well as the gases not knowing that there's a bunch of disconnected and damaged equipment, spark goes off and ignites all the gases on the inside and you get your explosion. For example in aircraft when there is an engine fire you can pull your fire handle, it will cut off Hydraulics it will cut off Electric, it'll cut off bleed air, and it'll Cut Off fuel to the engine. If for some reason you think the engine is stable and you push that fire handle back in, all of those will be reinitialized and if the engine is critically damaged it could ignite that fuel supply that you just threw back in there thinking the system was stable.

why the first film works so well: doesn't try to tell the exact same story as the game, uses new characters and has a straight forward plot, goes light on the fan service but does enough to emulate the world of the games by utilizing fixed camera angles in some shots. brings enemies from the games into the film like zombies, dogs also known as Cerberus, also has a Licker and has the characters running low on guns and ammo by the end of the film. there is a time limit in the film that counts down to the hive sealing just like the final timer in the games, this adds urgency to the plot and motivates the characters and the plot forward. the music perfectly adds to the tone of the film. the later films after the 3rd one started retconning things and went overboard on fan service making everything look like a fan made movie with incoherent plots and bad editing. also did you know the scene where Alice strays away from the group and meets the dogs in the kennel is completely cut out of the tv version of the film likely to pacing and time reasons? you can cut it out of the film and it really does not change anything. also the dog kennel worker Alice fights is the stunt coordinator for the film.
