Is not that Apple don't tell you. No one talks about it. Not even Intel.

Yi-Shun Wang It's not Intel that decides whether to turbo boost. It's the laptop manufacturers preference. So, it's all upto Apple.
@Billy123bobzzz
@Billy123bobzzz 7 жыл бұрын
No that is not correct at all. The Intel CPU does all the switching and turbo-boosting internally (inside the CPU chip itself). Apple, like Microsoft, like Linux, cannot control that. What Apple can do is to detect when the system is lightly loaded and send all the processes to one CPU core so Intel's internal mechanism can put the other cores to sleep, then Intel's internal control will ram up the turbo speed up to its turbo limit (minus thermal throttling).

So a few weeks ago I got the 2016 base 15inch model MacBook Pro refurbished from Apple's site. I haven't had any problems with it. Including the ones mentioned here and elsewhere. I assume they have replaced problematic components before reselling them. I would recommend anyone that wants to get a MacBook to consider Refurbished one from their website. Looks and works like brand-new. No scratches or any cosmetic damage, new display, and a new battery.

"Best build quality in any laptop" yet i can garantee you a lot of those issues are mistakes from manufacturing the laptop, meaning the build quality isn't quite that good, in fact it's the opposite.

Having bought over 24 Macs, I would say Macs generally last 10 years with few if any hardware issues. They just keep working. So yes, build quality is great.

I’m so glad my 2017 MacBook Pro 15 in has no issues. This thing is perfect, super long battery, fast performance, keyboard works, no issues with popping or stickiness, nothing at all. I might have gotten like the gold standard of MacBooks. I feel sorry for anyone who paid for it and it sucked from the beginning.

It seems like a thing for apple that the first version of their hardware sucks, I bought the mid 2012 Retina display MacBook Pro and it had tons of issues, although none of them was a showstopper but together they made my experience with it very unpleasant, the issues were the ghosting problem, the trackpad started to feel really hard to click after a few months, the keyboard keys were like mushy( I recently bought an air and the keys feel a lot different so I realize now that it is an issue with the retina laptop) and the interface was very laggy, the animations were not smooth, even though it had an Nvidia 650m the retina resolution was too much to handle, they eventually mitigated the problem in posterior versions of Mac OS but after more than a year ... So it is a good advice not to get anything.from apple if it is the first version of something, because essentially you become a paying beta tester ....

Its a thing for all manufacturers of all products, The rule is that the first version of anything you manufacture using new parts or new processes has glitches, its been that way since the dawn of the Industrial Revolution, its not unique to Apple, its normal for everyone to have a small percentage of products suffer from a glitch or two.

Yes, the sixth time is the charm. All it took was people paying for 5 generations of product to finance the "developemnt" of a laptop computer with a good keyboard, screen and treackpad that doesn't have major issues within months of release. As you should have figured out from their logo, Apple bites.

The first generation is always bad for all product's. Take the iPhone X for example. So many probs like oled burn it, battery issues, oled display lags and glitches and overall a lot of bugs.

These New MacBook Pro's suck. I know I have one. I am using my 2011 MacBook pro to type this because my 2017 MacBook Pro still doesn't work. They just sent it into The Houston Apple Repair Center. Just got it back and it literally doesn't work. This has been an ongoing event for a year now! Unbelievable... iMovie freezes. The camera doesn't work, the mouse freezes, video's freeze, pages get slow, etc. etc. They just put a New Logic Board on it this week. Doesn't work!!!

The Battery wasn't stacked because the MacBook Pro's don't have a wedge design like the 12" MacBook. Stacking Battery's in a MacBook Pro is unnecessary because the volume of the device allows for a more simple designed battery, thus making the assembly process easier as well. Stacking battery's for the 12" MacBook wasn't easy.

Very informative. I have experienced a couple of issues on my 2017 macbook pro. For example, I can hear something is loose moving freely inside of my machine, and also when charging, I feel electricity shocks, all around the mac. Hoping these two inconveniences will be enough for Apple to replace my machine. Keep it up bro!

Son, beside the fact we passed the 3.0 Ghz wall it's more than 15 years, in the real world you can't tell the difference between a last generation i5 and an older i7. A machine is about a balance of components. Often we get more benefits from a powerful GPU and super fast SSD rather than the raw power of the CPU itself.

15-inch Retina Mid 2014 With GT-750 M 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.7GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache Reaching Turbo boost more than 3.5 GHZ! My 2017 MBP 15" died recently after about 3 months. Luckily it was replaced immediately in an apple store, but that meant that I lost all the data on the computer. I have no idea what the cause of the issue was and apparently will never know, it could possibly be related to my first and only gaming session a couple of days prior. I've also encountered plenty of obscure software bugs, but they've been minor. Great video!

Geekbench isn't good to test thermal throttling - its designed to pause itself in between tests so the CPU clock falls back down. You should use something like Prime95 or Luxmark - those constantly load the CPU.

I actually made a video about replacing the thermal paste in my 2015 MacBook Pro which allowed it to basically always run at the turbo boosted frequency. Geekbench 4 doesn't usually keep the processor running at full speed the entire time so that isn't the best way to measure thermal throttling.

I have a Late 2016 15" MacBook Pro that is giving me issues as well. I bought it December 2016 and I've never been 100% satisfied with it. It feels sluggish, and It routinely crashes some applications such as "Preview", Word, and safari. This is frustrating because my 2013 iMac still runs much better than my 2016 MacBook Pro. I am wondering what you mentioned at the apple store in-order to get the 2017 version replacement? Or a different model in particular? Any advice would be appreciated, I am not very good at negotiating.

I got a 2017 15" Macbook Pro. Came with a keyboard problem (typing "n" would write "nn" or nothing at all). Brought it to the Apple Store and they replaced all the bottom part of the machine (including the battery) except the motherboard and the SSD. Came back with 2 minor scratches on the screen... Brought it back, they changed the top part of the machine. 2 weeks later, I discovered a problem with the multitouch on the track pad: I cannot click and use the multitouch when the click is on the upper part of the track pad. I really think I must be damned...

Amazon seems to be your sponsor. But how neutral is your opinion about Amazon? I say this because I had a few issues with my MacBook Pro's 15" model 2015, stains on my screen dat wouldn't disappear(Staingate), and a randomly appearing crackling noise in my speakers, and the Apple store here in Amsterdam replaced my screen for the stains and motherboard without any problem! So I'm still satisfied about their service. You say that Amazon gives a better service, but how can I expect that what you're saying is objective? Please let me know, I'm curious!

waited to buy the Macbook pro 2016 since i heared the 2017 version was coming and since i had it i havnt got any troubles with it. Keyboard is a bit weird at first but if you use it dayly you get used to it. speakers and internals are as they should be. Only little thing that does not work well is when i want to send a message and ad a emoticon via the touchbar that they not always appear. and in my messages some emoticons are black if some one sends them to me. but thats not a big deal. I'm very happy with the MBP 2017 but for that price i think it should be ;) Great video man!

I face graphic issues with my 2017 kaby lake macbook pro (560 Radeon Pro, i7-7820hq, 512gb SSD, 16gb LPDDR3 Ram) Whenever i use the laptop from hibernate, it won't switch to the Radeon graphics, it just stuck at the on board intel-graphics which is a pain if i want to use some graphical demanding tasks. I will first have to reboot my mac before i can use the Radeon Graphics, and then still i see a lot of graphical glitches in the OS like red/black screens and other strange things. I am now trying to refund it since the logic board has been replaced, but that didn't fixed any of the problems. Thermal throttling happens with all modern Intel CPUS, that is an Intel characteristic and is not controlled by Apple, don't worry about it. The MacBook Pro 3,1 is a nice model and will work, but the newer the model you get, the better it will perform.

I never had any of these issues with my mbp 15 2016. The battery life is also good. I don‘t use it that much anyway, because I have an iPad for media consumption etc. I only use my mbp for fcpx and logic pro and word

Obv the 2018 upgrade will have coffe lake, hopefully new cooling system, and new battery design. At least, I really hope it

It will have whatever Intel can deliver in quantity to Apple. Coffee Lake is promised to be produced on a smaller process so it should run cooler and faster but in order to try to stay ahead of AMD, Intel will probably add a lot of transistors and bump the clock rate up so it will then use more battery power and run hotter. Hopefully Apple will be able to select a part number that still runs a little faster while running cooler in a MacBook enclosure. One can only hope.

Am just getting a new 2016 . 2.6GHz but it only has a 256 gb SSD. Is there any reason why there are some of these around, - new, and apparently no 512gb ones?

im running a macbook pro 2017 im still having issues with a sticky keyboard but its very minor and usually happens when it over heats. (fun-fact the thermal lube for the processor is poorly done that probably y a lot of u guys have ur cpu throttling and ur fans r really loud and u experience overheating)

I agree! I have one and it still looks like the day it came out of the box. and it works great. I also purchased a macbook pro 2017 with Touch Bar and i had to take it back to the apple store for keyboard issues, fan issue and battery only lasts 4 hours. Wtf?
