I am just crazy enough to believe that Hatshepsut is actually _"Pharoah's daughter"_ from the Exodus story (ch. 2), and her architect here, Senenmut, is actually Moses, who disappeared about the same time as Senenmut (who never actually used his unfinished tomb), when he (Moses) was about 40yrs old, c. 1486 b.c., and would be great motive for later destruction of hers and his monuments and depictions. Good Question! The temple is place to honor Hatshepsut and her accomplishments during her time as Pharaoh. People would offer food and objects offered to the dead monarch. The temple was designed by Hatshepsut's steward and confidante Senenmut, who was also tutor to Neferu-Ra and, possibly, Hatshepsut's lover.
