Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane had some awesome messy nights at all those bars LOL A few missed were Sevens (Manukau), Sheepies Bar (Papatotoe) , Oasis, Roadhouse (Papakura) Woodys Bar REWA late 90s to mid 2000s were such a great era of night clubbing in Auckland, left NZ in 2008, I came back from Oz in 2017 on holiday went to go out out with my brother and their was literally one club open downtown in the city was a lil shocked how everything had changed. Big ups to Queen Shirle an OG of the hip hop scene.

This video provides a fantastic opportunity for Pacific Islanders to promote South Auckland night life as a way of promoting Pacific Is Holiday destinations for NZders wanting to explore the Pacific Islands. R&b, Hip Hop mixed with island shows. A great employment opportunity for Islanders as well

St George Tavern was cool. Lil' Abners Yokum Burgers are a South Auckland staple! Copper Joe's was a young people's meat market. Rewa's The Local was where you went if you wanted to fight all night. 90s nostalgia with this video. Tbh I was the dezi driver because someone had to look after us, esp the sisters. Don't get it twisted, just cos I wasn't drinking, didn't mean I wasn't on a Buddha or Wizard lmfao. Respect to security because we were a handful. From going out every Thursday to Monday because we could afford it (?). This was before Paris Hilton so it was Starter Jackets, Creepers, Origin Jeans and Snapbacks. The ladies would add a feminine touch with a pony tail or hoop earrings 😭😭😭😭 I miss the collective dancing 🙏🏾 thanks for this vid. Southside all day.

Another great episode Shae! What a walk down memory lane as I had been to most of these venues during my early 20's.The Colosseum was across the road from where "the Bar" is now. Studio X is worth a mention as well for the Manukau area which was a little harder to get into if you were on the boarders of "your to young to be in here". There were a few more bars further out to in Papakura - Oasis and the Road House. Looking forward to the next Episode, Love your work🤟

The South Auckland night clubs I used to go to was Club Raro (late 90's, Manu Vatuvei's older brother used to be one of the bouncers), Roadhouse, Oasis (both in the 2000's) and there was one in Manukau across from the Westfield (not sure what it was called). I usually went downtown to the City to places like Shakers (my mate Willie used to DJ there) Base bar, Club U4ria, Ginger Bar, Waterfront, Loaded Hog, Lefield (Float).....cant remember some of the rest as I had a few mates who were bouncers or DJ's at the various clubs.

Cool that Lil Abner’s still has the legendary Street Fighter II. We used to go to the Colosseum, used to have dance comps. We thought we were cool because we knew the bouncer and could get in under age. The Bar is not the old Colosseum. The Colosseum was directly opposite on the other side of the road. The building was knocked down and is now that C3 Church building. The Colosseum was a futurist (back in the 80s), looking black glass multi level building. It was a very cool place in its day. Great video

Shae, truly enjoyed the nostalgic nightclub tour... it would've brought back some memories in some shape or form. I notice that you and Queen Shirl'e were standing outside an old stomping ground at the Mangere Town Centre. A little over 40 years ago that Gaming Lounge was known as Club Cordova *correct me if I'm wrong, and at its height boasted some of NZ's most prolific bands. I tip my hat to all who graced that era. Cheers.
