I have mixed feelings on zoos. I remember going to the Chicago Zoo, and seeing the paths around the enclosures where animals had paced in circles, bored and depressed, for YEARS. I thought that sucked. That's not ok to do to animals. I wish all zoos were animal rehab facilities, instead. Like the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary in Australia or the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand. Those are awesome. ...That said, if you ARE going to capture animals, at least have stimulation and enrichment programs like this.
@UhtredOfBamburgh3 жыл бұрын
Me too. I think zoos are okay as long as the enclosures are appropriate especially in size. Last time I was at the zoo the polar bears looked sad and depressed and the wolves paced around in the same circular path and seemed furiously agitated but almost every herbivore to the contrary looked like they were in paradise. Predators need large territory and the stimulation of a hunt. At the same time people living in cities may be drawn more towards protecting nature around the world when they are stimulated by a zoo education
@firstylasty94173 жыл бұрын
@@UhtredOfBamburgh Zoo education has its merits. But I think most people probably go to gawk, and don't walk away inspired activists. Also, it sucks for the animal martyr chosen to "educate." ...But you bring up great points.

they arent in a cage! that is the indoor part of their very large enclosures for shelter and other care :)

Those footage are from zoo not sanctuary's

@@henry7619 yes, i know. the compartments you see them in are the indoor part of their large outdoor enclosure so they have shelter. it is typically for them to sleep in at night or medical reasons. they cannot be released into the wild as they were either rescued from the wild or born in captivity

@@iimdone That's cool and all,but why were they in captivity in the first place?
@oli34923 жыл бұрын
@@mikezebike Can be a large variety of reasons, like they are an endangered species and their parents gave birth to them in captivity, or they were found in the wild as newborns without parents and rescued by the wild-life services in their respective regions. Or their parents were rescued before from life-threatening injuries and kept in captivity since they couldn't live in the wild anymore so they too were born in captivity.

The cause of the current mass extinction that were witnessing is also unnatural...

You have an unnatural living situation. Why do you want to deny them that luxury?

They’re basically prisoners. And people just think they’re “cute”. :/

When do the Otters start their next tour? It was surprising to find out that an electronic keyboard would not be found in the wild. always learning something new
