These are gorgeous bats, and I’m always happy to see all bats getting more attention in good Zoos and care facilities. People need educating on the importance of the roles these key animals play in their various ecosystems all over the world. The groundless fear with which bats must often contend has placed many species in serious danger. The aviary setup here is beautiful, giving them lots of room to fly, and socially interact as a breeding colony. Thanks for this.🖤🇨🇦

Why do you think the bats from the 2 different places were so different? One happy and eating and the others a bit fiesty?

The bats from Bristol were all boys and males tend to be a lot more chill than females for whatever reason. The journey from Jersey was 25 hours and that definetly will have impacted their behaviour on arrival! They are all settled now though 😊

I think that many of are squeamish about bats ... But I feel differently now, after learning about them. And, well, they're FRUIT bats. Not interested in us!

They are the sweetest animals, we are so lucky to have them living with us. Other than pinching some food, they are not particularly interested in us. We offer Bat Experiences now if you fancy testing your new-found acceptance of bats!
