Why choose "L/R" and not "Main Out L/R"? What's the difference? I'm looking into getting the Zoom F8, so just going through a bunch of videos; trying to learn all I can...

Genshi Media Group just a personal preference. No need to have "Mix L" when I understand "L" means the same thing.

Genshi Media Group I rewatched my video and realized what you were talking about. "Track L/R" is your mix track. "Main Out 1/2" is referring to what you have routed to the two TA3 outputs on the side of the F8. For most people, these would usually be the same. But if you are sending audio to camera you may route your boom to the left and wires to the right; and additionally you may want to have a mix for a scratch track. In that case, they would be different.
