Man this recorder is so epic! It's also way more affordable then the Sound Devices 1. The other epic thing is you can use it as an audio interface for your PC. Super epic!

I'm saving up for the Sound Devices 688. Should I keep saving up for the mixer or get this Field Recorder? Because the 688 does SO much more.

Can the front panel knobs be assigned as faders? If not, is there any way to adjust faders without using a bluetooth device?

Markus Brunger On the main recording screen you can select the fader for each channel and adjust with the main scroll knob.

+ZoomSoundLab Hopefully it can be changed in the future to allow the knobs to be used as faders so that those without iOS devices will be able to mix on the fly

i want to kwon if the F8 software is going to have a similar app for Scripting and Sound Reports as the Sound Deices Wave Agent?
@ZoomSoundLab9 жыл бұрын
+Sebastian Perez Bastidas As of now, the F8 does not have a sound report app.

Looking superb. I do have a few questions concerning the units use as a professional ENG/EFP audio recorder. To go line in, do you HAVE to use TRS or is there a way to set XLR to line level? Can the metering scale be changed? The vast majority of field audio professionals need a -20dbfs mark and prefer coloring to change once that mark is hit (green to yellow). Can the front panel knobs be assigned as faders? If not, is there any way to adjust faders without using a bluetooth device?

+James Nolan To go line into the F8 you must use TRS. The metering scale cannot be changed. Currently the front panel knobs cannot be assigned as faders. However, this is a comment we have heard often and are looking into changing. Thank you

I understand this is a field recorder, but I am curious...is this device good for recording music at a semi/pro level? I'm a drummer, and am trying to record some raw tracks for an album.

+Nasty Habits You could use the F8 to record music

Man I want 1 of these things. It's way more affordable then the 788-t sound devices. But same epic awesome idea. But you guys beat their pants off in 1 epic way. Dude a 7.1 audio in interface into the PC. Ya sadly can't do that with the 788-T

Looking good. However I'm EXTREMELY skeptic until I've had a chance to actually try the unit at our studio. The Zoom H6 was supposed to be much less noisy than the previous recorders and looked good on paper.. reality was completely different though. It was noisy and extremely bad sounding, not at all viable for professional work. This F8 recorder looks on paper like it could take on the Sound Devices recorders at a fraction of the price.. but it remains to be seen if this is true in reality. Zoom is one of these companies where specs on paper mean absolutely nothing.

Absolutely agree. I haven't had issues with noise but have had distortion problems, making my audio sound buzzy
