Hi! I have been watching so many of your videos over these past few days as I finally get ready to wing it with an online yoga offering. Thank you SO much! I am feeling motivated, knowledgeable and confident to do this whole Zoom thing, I appreciate it =]

Do it! And then come back and let me know how it went. My first few Zoom classes last March were very nerve-wracking, even having taught for 8 years. But after about 3 classes, I felt much more at ease with it.

Turns out teaching is actually pretty easy compared to some of this tech stuff and marketing, right? It seems more challenging when all you have to do is show up and teach a class in a gym or studio. I'm glad I'm able to help.

Hi Ashley. This was very informative. Exactly what I needed as I am about to start an online dance school teaching hip hop. I've done zoom calls before as a host or assisting but it was only for talking. As a dancer as yourself a yoga teacher we deal with movement. I will have to become a little more animated when speaking and give instructions and also bigger in movement so it can be seen clearly. I will start with what I have Like you said. What was really helpful was the mirror feature that you talked about. I will make use of that when teaching. Thank you so much.

Thanks Ashley, clear and useful guidance as always. I'm wondering if Zoom configurations are different here in the UK and also for my yoga teacher friend in NZ. We no longer have an Unmute All button but can Unmute people individually, if they haven't Muted themselves, in which case only they can Unmute themselves. Also, I was under the impression that the Waiting Room is now mandatory, but perhaps it is just the default setting now. And likewise, with Passwords (now called Passcodes), I think they are mandatory now as part of Zooms efforts to make meetings more secure. Ah, I just checked my update emails from Zoom and they sent one out on 7 July saying they're extended the period before they make Waiting Rooms and Passcodes mandatory - it will start from 27 September 2020. Another thing - it's good to search for updates in the Zoom App every week or so, as they seem to make lots of changes - and good to recommend it to our students/clients too.

Great vid, thanks Ashley! I just did an interview on Zoom (not a yoga class) and forgot to check before I recorded that it was recording us in gallery view... but it didn't. Ugh! So in the end the video kept switching between us in speaker view. So even if your Zoom is set up in Gallery view, it doesn't mean it records in gallery view too, so that's another point to note.
@AshleyHagen4 жыл бұрын
I definitely have to make an update to this because Zoom keeps changing little things. But this video did cover the basics, I think. The "mirror" option and "record" views are confusing. I want to explain it better.

Hi Ashley! Hope you're doing great. Do you offer your classes for 24hr? How do I offer this option if the yogis cannot follow the classe online? Many thanks from Montreal!
@AshleyHagen3 жыл бұрын
I haven't done this, but here are a few things to try: You can do this by uploading video to Vimeo. I think they have timeline options. You can also set a deadline for the Zoom recordings. You can upload to KZbin as "unlisted" and then make the video "private" or delete it after 24 hours. You might also be able to upload the video to a cloud storage site like Dropbox and have the link available only for 24 hours. There are ways to do this. Some you might be more automated, and other ways might be more manual.

Hi Ashley Great info thank you. Can you advise how you sign in to your Zoom Account from both equipment. i.e. computer and phone?
@AshleyHagen3 жыл бұрын
You click the link and you can attend a meeting using multiple devices. It should be fairly straight forward. You can’t have 2 different Zoom videos going at once, though. If it’s the same zoom link, you can have multiple devices on it.

Hi Ashley, I am enjoying your videos. You do them so well. I have a question. If I demo and then go onto gallery view to see if everyone is doing it right, how will that affect the pin and speaker view on the recording? Will the gallery show up on it?

Test it out and see what happens. That’s really all I do.. I just often talk about it afterwards. I don’t record my yoga classes on zoom anymore.

Hi, nice tutorial. You should maybe change the meeting ID's for the meetings seen at 9:55 before some rando figures out the passwords (if you have set one) and joins your meetings.
@AshleyHagen3 жыл бұрын
I actually don't use any of those meetings anymore. And the one that I do, I don't use a password. I use the waiting room since I know everyone attending that meeting. My yoga classes are each individually created when someone signs up through Acuity, so they're all new meetings and not seen here. Thanks for bringing it up so I could check.

Thanks for taking the time and to go through all the zoom details we need as yoga teachers. I wish I could see it earlier. I had to try out many times till I understand what is going on. The worst is I had issues with video quality. I still do, apparently, something I didn't know, quality of zoom recording depends also on the participants!!!!! That's just so frustrating, isn't it?

Hi Ashley, just to clarify what you were saying about music background. If I want to play music during the class I have to share my Spotify song list with the members o the class for it to be legally excepted? That way they play it at the same time as myself? Does it matter if the music is not quite in sync?
@AshleyHagen3 жыл бұрын
Legally, you should be paying royalty fees to several big companies that represent all the artists if you want to play music for "public performance" which yoga and fitness classes are considered. You can get around this by simply sharing your playlist link rather than playing the music yourself, OR by using royalty free music from sites like epidemicsound.com or yogi-tunes.com. Here is some helpful information on music licensing: www.yogaalliance.org/About_Yoga/Article_Archive/A_Crash_Course_in_Yoga_Music_Licensing_in_the_United_States

If you use the same zoom link for reoccurring meetings, how can you make sure that only people who registered for your classes sign in? Thank you!
@AshleyHagen3 жыл бұрын
You are required now to have either set a password or admit people from the waiting room. This changed after I made this tutorial. There is no option to turn that off. I have mine set so I have to admit them. You just wouldn't admit people who didn't register or sign up. Also, I had the same link for my virtual classes for months. No one ever tried to get in without paying. No one probably even realized it was the same.
