Zoom G3 - How To Setup In Front Of An Amp

Kley, a big thanks from me. I've tried this and I'm very pleased with the results, the pedal has never sounded as good through the front of my amp. The G3 is great for stompbox combinations, I now have 3 very usable ones in each patch without scrolling. The individual stomp boxes need to be set up for the guitar you intend to use with it to get your desired tone. This (direct method & set at 100) works really well with my Cube 60 amp.

Thanks for the video. I forgot I had this G3. It was in a box full of floor toys. I remember using a few of the delays in tandem and using a synthesizer with a Hammond B3 sound with it. hope many people see your very useful video..too many guys are talking shit about using the zoom, pod, etc with a guitar amp, and just because they don´t know how to use, keeping the amp/speaker simulators on...If you want to use that kind of gear with a guitar amp, use it as if it was a pedalboard with single pedals. I compared some "real" pedals with the zoom stompboxes and actually there is a very little difference ( in some of them, the Zoom sounded even better )....It´s very easy: amps and speakers emulators are just for D. recording, P.A. etc, in other words, when there IS NOT a guitar amp. HI Kley, I am thinking of using G3N as amp and time based effects (reverb and Delay) and have pedals before it. I am concerned with quality of amps, delay and reverb mostly. Would you recommend G3N for this purpose?

Kley De Jong I've just ordered a bugera v22 amp but it has no headphones output so i'm thinking about getting the G3X for that and the effects. So i'm wondering, can you just leave it in the fx loop all the time and plug in headphones when needed ? How is the sound quality when using headphones compared to the amp speaker ? the direct mode is FOR DIRECT RECORDING. ... read the manual before making "TIPS" videos.

Consider what I'm saying again. If you're using the unit for effects you want an uncolored and unprocessed dry signal - which is what Direct mode provides. So if you don't want your dry signal affected that's the right choice.

Dude, again, HAVE YOU READ THE MANUAL? lol... it's exactly the opposite of what you are sayin... Direct mode aims to deliver a better EMULATION out put for direct recording.

I have read the manual. Have you ever tried the pedal? Have you ever scrolled through the different options and compared it to plugging your guitar straight in? If you're using the G3 for effects only then why would you want any coloration applied? The different modes apply EQ compensation to offset for differences between those other inputs. But in this situation that coloration means your dry signal doesn't come through unaffected.

You should be charge with two acts of stupidity: -first of all: exposing that little kid to your music while your wife is working -second of all: thinking that your wife will never find out this video JUST KIDDING MAN!;) Wanna ask, what amp you pluging in, and what is your axe? Am on marshal standard cheap amp with Ephiphone sg special or Ibanez rg350dx, and clean sound never sound like this throug g3x, its more meaty but not so clear. Just asking Regards

Maciej Gryszun the gain in your amp may be... keep g3 in bypass.. put clean patch on amp and reduce gain... if u still find it distorted.. reduce output volume of G3

This is nonsense. The output modes sound exactly the same as long as no amp sim is used inside the G3.

Sascha Franck is right. It wouldn't make sense any other way. Also, even with an amp sim activated, "direct" and the "... power amp" options sound / are the same. Some folks have analysed this. Even Zoom's customer service does not deny this.
