I've owned this thing for over 10yrs(the original version non pro) and I haven't used half of its features. It's an amazing little device and I got a great idea watching your video. I'm going to hook up the line out to my wireless transmitter then hook the wireless receiver to my camera. I think that will allow me to have all the control of this H4n and run it directly into my camera so I don't have to sync later AND it will be wireless! Why have I never thought of this?!

Mr. Sytes, thank you for making this video. I appreciate that you describe the H4N so a beginner can understand, especially describing all of the functions in the menu system. Your video was so much more helpful than the half dozen others I have watched on this item. You have a new subscriber. I am so excited about starting to create music in a little hobby studio. So far I have the PO-33 KO pocket operator for a cheap sampler/sequencer, Beyerdynamics DT770 250ohm headphones, a JBL headphone amp, and a PC. I think the H4n and a condenser mic will be great for capturing sounds and being my audio interface. No DAW yet, I'm leaning towards Ableton Live. Keep up the great work, and I am excited about exploring your videos.

Mike Sytes I have a question. I recorded a phone interview.-plugged that into the external 3.5 in the back and I used a mic input into the left (#2). I pull the audio into garage band and it sound like I am just on the left side. I need to balance that out in post. How do I do that? or what should I have done to record it so as to not have that problem? 🤔 thank you for even taking the time to respond. I thought I had it set up properly-

As a teacher and trainer...WOW! I learned so much from this video. I have had my Zoom H4n since spring of 2011. I used it for a couple years just to record piano composition ideas and then I set it aside and forgot about it. I'm again working on my songwriting and heard from a friend the H4n could be used as an audio interface. Since I'm shopping to set up my home studio I'm happy to hear that perhaps I won't need to spend the big bucks on a different interface if what I already have works. This video was excellent and gave my non-tech brain much help. How has it worked for you? Thanks Mike!!!

Although this is a good device, the H6 (the non black-edition) is not much more and has way better inputs. Still, good for basic recording. The one thing that makes this superior over similar Tascam (which I have owned) is that you can run it off USB power banks. The older Tascam was way better though in terms of SNR, which is why I opted out of the 4N and went straight to the H6. Guys...get the H6.

@@mikesytes In the meanwhile I ordered one. About my question: it is possible. But the max sampling frequency is 48kHz. And you have to reset that every time you reconnect the recorder.
