Thank you for posting Greg. I recently purchased the H6 and I am just learning to use it for recording songs that I am learning.

H6 is really awesome for recording your ideas and songs. I use it track my progress of songs. I try to record them in one go which is sth people tend not to do nowadays. There is no right or wrong using the microphones so experimenting is good. Trust your ears. Thanks for checking out this video.

Just bought the MSH-6 capsule specifically for recording acoustic guitar and this was very helpful. Thanks and nice finger picking BTW!

- Greg - what about rotating the whole recorder 90° so one mic capsule is pointing Up towards your mouth - and the other mic capsule is pointing Down towards the guitar ?? Would the 2 recorded channels have more (1)vocals / (2)guitar on each separate channel that could give room to adjust in editing ??

Sounds good. There's no right and wrong way of doing it. Maybe the sound you get will appeal to you. Experimenting is always good. You could play with splitting that stereo track or even altering the stereo width. Maybe you could try the MS plugin from zoom website or use some free plugins

@@GregMichael - Yes, it would be nice to not have to use an extra mic but still have 1 channel with more vocal presence.

I bought a Zoom H6 few week ago. I don't like MS mic because it has a lot of self-noises....

I have only tried the XY capsule so far, and I think that this video shows that the MS capsule has a great sound and I will certainly experiment with it very soon.

Great. You can lower or increase the sensitivity of the side microphone. You can also disable it. There is a lot of flexibility here. This capsule is great for creating mono tracks that you would want to have if you mix multiple tracks.

Thanks for the video. How do you isolate the vocals from guitar when recording with the ms mic? I use the xy just because I can isolate better with it. Please advise!

Do you mind clarifying your recording process and goals you are after? I would use either ms or xy capsule if I wanted to capture vocals and guitar live at the same time. Trying to isolate both in post production feels like a lot of hassle and would compromise the sound. If I wanted a higher level of control of two instruments I would probably use a different mic for the guitar and vocals. If I was using the ms capsule for vocals I would probably disable the side mic. I hope I am helping? I wouldnt personally record both at the same time in order to try to split them later

@@GregMichael Using the ms capsule for for vocals and disabling the side mic sounds like a plan for me. Thank you for the quick response and it is definitely helping!

seems like the mid mic in bottom side, not front

Hello! Both mic capsules have great sound. Maybe MS has tighter bass and is more direct sounding. Have you used limiter, compressor, low cut filter in this recording. What would be the best settings of those for acoustic guitar. Thanks for the instructive video.

Hi! thank you for uploading this video, it's so informative. I just got a zoom h6 and i'm wondering what's the best way to get the best sound out of an acoustic guitar with this handy recorder. Is it possible to record directly and using the stereo microphone so then you can mix both ? or do you think it would sound better just using the xy stereo mic capturing the acoustic guitar's sound ? I'm planning to add some reverb in post.

Does the H6 have a hi z input you can record directly into it from the guitar output?
@GregMichael4 жыл бұрын
No hi z input but I recorded directly from the guitar with no problems. I can't hear any difference when I connect the DI box
