May be brake fade from heat build up. One cause is the small rotors getting hot and not cooling fast enough, plus the fluid gets hot causing a "mushy" feel.
@WOLFTICKVIDEOS4 жыл бұрын
Well John sounds like you NAILEDit ha ha, didnt think about that but man I believe with some better rotors and these brakes may be very diamond in the rough:)
@mtbboy19934 жыл бұрын
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS have you checked the rotors? As John mentioned, overheating can do this, so check the rotors and brakes, if they are hot, it's clearly overheating, and floating rotors make a difference, so do bugger rotors, but a con of floating rotors is that after years of use the rivets creak. If you get anew rotors go for many small venting holes, no big holes, you should have more braking surface, more venting holes thus better cooling and bite. So far the brake rotors that has this done to the limit is Brake-stuff, even smaller and more holes than my hope rotors, they don't do floating rotors, but many small holes. I know Hope rotors perform well, cus I have them, but I am sure Brake Stuff rotors will perform well too

I put those brakes on my hyper explorer build a couple months ago and they have been flawless.the stopping power is insane compared to the mechanical discs they replace. My only complaint is that the levers are a little on the loosey goosey side and rattle slot when you are on bumpy terrain without your fingers on them.

8:22 the issue you are describing can be caused by leaking seals, so air gets in the system, might be tiny fluid leak or no fluid leak, but a lot of air in system for sure, which gets moved to thee top when you are on and off and on and off as you say, but then you ride and thee bubbles move in the system, and and the brake gets spongy.

Revisiting this video to say that yesterday i got rid of my Zoom hydraulic brakes and went with Shimano MT200s, and to be honest I'm not impressed with the shimanos, I liked the lever design better on the zooms, plus these MT200s are pretty spongy, even after bleeding them. In terms of stopping power I haven't notice any improvement with the MT200s, to me it feels the same as the Zoom brakes. I kind of wish I had stayed with the Zoom brakes, but I am changing the color scheme on my GT Aggressor Pro to all black and the red Zoom brakes didn't look right with everything else being black. I guess it's a good thing I only paid $80.00 total on the back and fronts from my LBS, I know a certain seller on Amazon sells them at a premium for $120.00 which is ridiculous.

These brakes need a special adapter to bleed. The Shimano kit will not fit these. I use this one (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073P8M41K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). After the price of the MT200 doubled, I got a couple of sets of the Zooms. They work well for EZ to Moderate Riding, but the "Fade" feel never seems to ever go away completely. I think they are a good option for Commuter bikes, and easy trail riding.
