It seems xtech have upgraded their seal inside the calipers. I took one of mine apart to put some harder grade ones in and found that they've put a big beefier one in there! So I put I all back together and bled the caliper and all is well.

Thanks for this extra deep dive into this. That new O-Ring looks to be of a different and much more substantial material?

Yeah. The black one is most likely NBR type material which is most common. The red-ish one is FPM type which has more temperature resistance and supposedly better durability. I don't know if this is the right type of material for this specific application, but so far the caliper is working and there are no signs of any leaks.

If mine fails, I'll simply buy another 20 dollar caliper before doing all that but thanks for showing us the internals.

Yeah, my brand new brakes were no good out of the box, so they hit the trash can! I wasn't waisting time buying anything to fix them with! They should have worked from the start!
