Zoom Video - Video as a Virtual background in meetings by Chris Menard

Zoom Video Conference: Zoom now allows you to have a video as your virtual background in your meetings. This is a great feature released in early 2020. You can still do an image background with or without a green screen. I'm not using a green screen in this video. Both videos I use as my background were preloaded when I started the Zoom meeting. You can also download videos to use as your virtual background. The video can be an mp4 or mov. The resolution needs to be 360p - 1080p.
I recommend if you do a lot of video meetings, you invest in a green screen.

What are your computer hardware specs? Here are the specs from Zoom's support page. A video (MP4 or MOV file) with a minimum resolution of 480 by 360 pixels (360p) and a maximum resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels (1080p).

Is this only a Windows feature? It only says "Add virtual background image" on my mac version of the newest Zoom. Upon installation only the three first photos were already downloaded, the videos and the rest were not, while no .mov or .mp4 are accepted.

If you don't see the video option, your computer processor most likely won't handle video.

Two main questions, Chris: 1) If I want to upload my own video background, what formats are the ones that will work: MP4? Yes? No? Others? 2) I assume the video will loop? So short, like 5 seconds? Thanks in advance.

Zoom recommends using background videos (MP4 or MOV file) with a minimum resolution of 480 x 360 pixels (360p) and a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (1080p). If your background image includes text, uncheck the 'mirror my video' option in your video settings. I would not loop for more than 30 seconds.

I'm enjoying use of virtual background images in Zoom but also have not video backgrounds includes nor able to upload one. Chris, I'm looking forward to your upcoming video that may help troubleshoot this issue. At this time my assumption is that this feature is limited to certain processors or operating systems. I'm sing a Lenovo ThinkPad P52 running Windows 10 with Intel Core i7-8850H processor at 2.60 GHz with 6 cores, 12 logical processors.

After further research, reviewing specs on Zoom's Help Center, PC requirements for video without green screen specifies the following requirements: 6th generation i5 dual-core or higher processor, except atom and y-series i5 quad-core or higher processor Any processor with a logical core of 6 or higher and a frequency of 3.0GHz or higher Therefore, appears my frequency of 2.60 GHz is below the required 3.0 GHz required for this feature. Bummer.

I have an iPad and the latest version of Zoom app running. I’ve also tried from web version, and only get the option of choosing an image. Is thee a way around this, or does it only work for non-iPads? Just curious if anyone has had success with an iPad. And I have the most recent iPad Air. Thanks
