Honestly I've learned more about lighting from Gavin's videos than anywhere else, by far. His info & presentation skills are amazing. Thanks!

I watched this just before attending a model/photographer workshop. I tried the technique and was impressed with the results. I also tried with a speedlight using a 7" dish/reflector & grid. very similar results.

Good timing. I might need this for a specific shoot next week. Bouncing a second flash off the ceiling but I don't know yet what the heights and distances will be (not my room). The finals you shot make me think of Sophie being under a street lamp. Something else for me to play with.

Hey Gavin, This is Anand. Your Videos are really Amazing and informative specially this video of using TTF flash as studio. Need your guidance that how effective and efferent will be using Basic manual Speedlight instead of TTF Speedlight and can such lights can be low cost solution instead of Cylindrical studio Speedlights.😀

Hi Gavin, when using something like a beauty dish where the light is initially reflected onto a central scale and then bounced into the rest of the dish, should I zoom in (So the light only hits the center dish) or zoom out so I spread it evenly across the dish even before bouncing? Or does it not matter at all at such a close range?
