For eye candy I would say Zorin. For reliability and support, 100% Mint. Mint is my go to recommendation for new users who just want that good experience out of the box.

I use both on a daily basis. I prefer Mint but would be completely happy with Zorin. I'll be upgrading both. Here's where Zorin shines with their one-click Upgrade feature. No need to do a download, ISO burn, boot, install. Just click. All your stuff and preferences carry over. Slick!

Upgrading to a newer version of Mint has been available for a while (since v18?) through Update Manager. When the upgrade is available, it is a simple point/click operation.

I come from a Windows background and I wanted to try Linux out - I tried both Mint and Zorin on my laptop (10th gen Intel i5, 8GB RAM, nothing special) and honestly from a "install it and it just works" as well as an aesthetic point of view, Zorin (for me) won hands down. Its just WAY less intimidating for a new (to Linux) user and I've found no issues doing everything I need to do with it. I've read people complaining about snap this vs dpkg that, its not based off the latest something or other... I don't know.. I don't understand, I dont want to understand, I just want to use my computer and honestly Zorin has been great in this regard! It totally demystified Linux for me.

I use some software that, in Mint, I had to install flatseal for it to work. So, I tried Zorin and stayed with this OS, I like it, it suits me well.

One of the interesting things to me, is that on the last step of instalation, linux mint shows you apps and screenshots, to keep you from getting bored, meanwhile Zorin doesn't, it's just a empty canvas with a loading bar on the bottom, which i think that Zorin can take a litle inspiration from mint to freshen up their install

I am fairly new to linux distros. I heard so much hype about Zorin that i tried it and like it. But when i finally recently tried Linux Mint, I am sold. To me, it looks better, and is organized well and more efficient. I will say, Zorin 17 has brought it's speed up to par w/ Linux Mint, which will be upgrading versions in a few months.

I'm thankful for Vista ... it was soooo bad that three weeks after my purchase of a new laptop I dual-booted with LInux, and after 5 months, I deleted windows and have been Linux only since 2006 ,,, and Mint only since 2008 (except on my Chromebook!)

I used both, and tbh i found zorin os lite my choice. Idk, it's smoothier than mint xfce on my 4gb ram 1.6ghz celeron, and it feels like premium out of the box.

Zorin focuses on users who are completely new to Linux's world. For newcomers, a smooth and good-looking OS is preferable more than what's inside the OS.

the 17 core already out? i thought they are still beta? is this means im going to do a complete new install of linux again? XD!! becasue i have changed distros twice this month alone. XD!! but maybe one last time. i know now LMDE 6 is GOOD. especially gaming performance. i m surprised. it has no PPA support but booy, it is FASTER in gaming than normal ubuntu based mint. so, im going to check Zorin 17 now.

I'm personally concerned... I intend on a building a new PC, and switching over to Linux using all new components (RYZEN 7000) etc... Just concerned whether either of these two operating systems, will work with new hardware.

AMD is a perfect match for Linux. New hardware I'd go with the edge version of Linux Mint.

@@TheLinuxITGuy Ahhhhh that's what I've been reading. I was heaviliy thinking of going with one of the new Nvidia GPUs, but everyone says since they're pretty much closed sourced, there's been issues with using them along with Linux. The thing that was leaning me towards one, was CUDA and NVENC, and how widely those are accepted, with a wide range of software.

I hate Wayland. Try to fix a touchscreen with no Linux support. Nvidia drivers have nothing on x11. I will stay with mint until they transition completely next year (probably). I’ll end up writing a driver myself but putting it off.
