I have 2 of these. Both of which I upgraded the CPU in them - It's not that difficult if you are comfortable with disassembly/reassembly and use a top-rated thermal material. One now has an i7-6700t, the other an i7-7700t. There is a noticeable perf bump from doing so, in both games and developer work, and I have had no problems with either machine. Using an M2. NVMe drive such as 960 Evo instead of a SATA III SSD for your main/OS drive also improves the feel.

With the 8700T out do you think that's a worthwhile upgrade? You can get ES chips for cheap

Great system. I am glad it isn't loud too. I am not out to buy one right now, perhaps in a couple of years, but I like where we are heading. Windows 10 aside that is. Thanks for the good review.

Hey! There are pre-built versions (non barebone) from Zotac as well.. if it not in your local store that doesn't mean that there isn't one available. Zotac EN1060 Plus for example (www.zotac.com/us/product/mini_pcs/magnus-en1060-plus) PS! I've been using my EN1060 barebone (with 256GB Intel M2 + 512GB Samsung SSD + 16GB HyperX) for 3 months now with my FullHD screen and I'm loving it, best piece of hardware for gaming on the GO!

the use of a T-model CPU is actually most likely owing to the fact it is powered by a laptop style DC power cable, which isn't capable of powering all that much. This is why the beefiest laptops (and even the EN1080K) come with 2x DC in ports. Ergo because of the limitations on power (and the machine not having a dedicated PSU), the lower voltage requirements of a T-model CPU is necessary in order to leave enough power to power the graphics, which in gaming is more important than the CPU. Considering the EN1080K having 2x DC in ports, that's because the 1080 is much more power hungry, and as such they had to make the chassis even taller for a bigger cooling system too.

No mention of the dual gigabit LAN or WIFI chipset then; not even on the manufacturers website, I'm guessing its not using Intel then and they've instead gone with Realtek or Broadcom. :(

Where do they get the £800 from? Seems a bit pricey considering the parts...but maybe simply because of the form factor. hmm...
@TechteamGB8 жыл бұрын
+drblacko I think it probably tallies up like this: Around £200 for the GPU Around £150 for the cpu Around £150 for a mobo (assuming no cost I creating their own purely for this) Call it £100 for the case & psu Call it £50 for the extra bits(antenna etc) Plus money for actually tooling machinery to make the mobo/case etc and factor in design costs for it. Plus licencing fees for putting stuff like HDMI ports on it. Also packaging. I'd guess that £50 is covered by that so there is £50 profit for them and £50 profit for the distributors, resellers and such.
@souk-tv8 жыл бұрын
I agree mate, you're better off building your own ITX at that price. Granted you wont get it as small but still, I think more people are more interested in best bang-for-buck than size now days.

@TechteamGB8 жыл бұрын
+Neversync technically no. The port is now either 3.1 gen 1 (5gb/s) or gen 2 (10gb/s) but the protocol that actually transfers the data is either USB 3.0 or 3.1

TechteamGB can it run fortnite at 120 FPS on medium settings?
@JamesKirk19885 жыл бұрын
@@levbargraser5665 With these specs, you'll likely have FPS vary between 60 & 120FPS. On the lower side, it'll likely be CPU limited, as you really need 3.6 to 4.0Ghz on this class of CPU to maintain over 100FPS most of the time.
