Zoukei Mura 1/32 He-219 Build Part 3

In this video I ramble a lot and show you the finished model as well as how I painted the camo pattern.

I have the 1/32 Revell He-219. The camo was the one thing holding me back from building it. Your technique for painting the camo seems to be the best way to do it.. The base is fantastic. I really can not stand it when a kit manufacturer makes removable panel. They should model them closed with the option to scribe out the panel from the inside if you want them open. Sorry for the rant. Following on Instagram.

6:50 This is the correct way to do the camouflage. Just about everyone gets this wrong. Chris Wauchop, who is something of an expert in Luftwaffe camouflage, pointed it out a number of years ago and I’m pleased to see it’s catching on.

I think you have made a superb job of this aircraft. Whilst some kits do fight at every corner I think there isn't any sensible kit out there that would come close to beating you.

I don't build WW@ aircraft but have to say that some of those German night fighters were amazing looking pieces of technology. So cool looking. And that's a really great finished result...no-on would know that the kit gave you so much trouble of you hadn't said so! It's a brilliant finished piece 🙂

that aerial recognition base is sick !! and damn what a result ! the owl had zero appeal to me... as i only had seen pictures of it on the ground... but in flight it looks stunning ! awesome as always .. and waiting for the next one !

This is so you Sean: One of the most complicated two-tone camos made in simple steps - that basically every modeller could follow - or give it a try at least. Did you research on how the real people did the camo back in the day? They did paint the dark grey on top of the light one?

I saw a post from another modeler who did it this way so I thought I’d give it a try. He said they painted the real thing the same way but I didn’t verify that.

For a kit you didn't like to build...it's beautiful (in a german-kind-of-way). I figure when I tackle mine it'll take a tad longer than 3 hours to paint. Three days seems my speed. I do have a question...you also do beautiful work on your canopies. Is there a previous video where you explain how you do them?

Thanks, but I’m not sure what you mean by work on them. I have a BF 109 build where I show how I mask them off. As for polishing, the harrier build series is where I think I cover that. I never dip them in future or other clear gloss as I’ve found it makes it difficult to clean up any bleed through after removing the masking.

DO NOT attach the exhaust and exhaust shield to the engine until after it’s mounted into position in the upper nacelle. Then you can dry fit the rest of the nacelle and get the exhaust in the right position. I didn’t do this and it snowballed quickly into fit issues with the rest of the nacelle.
