Thanks for the video! I wasn’t expecting it to have such a slim profile. It looks super sleek 😎

This look very promising. I hope you do the follow-up on this. I'm looking to buying this but there is no-one doing a review about this. really interested in a indept video explaining how to configure and work with this. This was already a very nice introduction though!

@@SohilPandya1 I’m joining the split keyboard gang from a razer gaming keyboard. So things like initial setup and the difference in typing from cherry mx to these slim versions and differences between laptop keyboard. Anything really that shows off this thing 😁

Did you have any customs or shipping charges for into the UK? Looking to get one and I know you said it cost £289 but looking to try and get one but need to financially plan!

Great question. I did not have to pay any customs. I was surprised by this as I was ready and willing to cough up some money.

Thanks for that very early unboxing. Ordered mine right as the email came but hasn't shipped yet. Do you have a platform (the zsa one) at hand? Does it work with it? Would it work with the tripod plate, heard that has homes for screws. I love my moonlander and have been carrying it to the office and back for over a year now, and since the platform exists with that, but it is heavy. I love bigger angles to write though.

Just checked the unit that I have, but it does not have threaded inserts for screws. The little holes that you see are alignment points that can be used by magnetic accessories. They do already have a magnetic tripod plate for the Voyager (ordered one yesterday). I really like the use of magnets, because it will make it much more easy to remove the halves from accessories.

@@nonagoninfok. On the website it's stated that you can attach the magnetic tripod plate to other things with screws, that might be interesting. I'll ask the support though.

@@simonwick9337 ah sorry, I thought that you referred to to Voyager when asking if it has homes for screws, but you meant the Voyager tripod plate?
@SohilPandya1
@SohilPandya1 Жыл бұрын
I don't have the platform, but it's screw mounted and there are no holes for any screws on the voyager itself the voyager tripod mount is magnetic with a tripod thread, so it doesn't look like it's compatible. Leave a message below if you find out otherwise. So there may be a new version of the platform that's magnetic on the way in the future.

I'm wondering how good this keyboard would be to play videogames. I want to get a split one with tenting but I don't want to have two keyboards laying around. I'm also wondering how configurable this is and if the layering would interfere with videogames.

These are all great questions. I’ll try to answer most of them in my next video. Unfortunately I’m not a game so won’t be about to comment on that one. But I do have a custom layers for Final Cut Pro for editing with some customisations.

I own the Ergodox EX. It may not have the same low-profile form factor as The Voyager, but it has the same software, and I can confirm that these types of keyboards are great for gaming. In fact, in my opinion, they're better than ordinary keyboards, because they're so customisable. For example, you can create layers specifically dedicated for particular games, enabling you to keep your left hand on the keyboard and your right hand on the mouse (or vice-versa). For instance, on FPS games, I use the standard QWERTY layer for things like running, jumping, throwing grenades, etc -- just like with an ordinary keyboard. But there aren't enough buttons on the left half of the keyboard for every action. So I hold a thumb modifier key to take me to my 'FPS' layer, which gives me even more actions that I can do with my left hand. On an ordinary keyboard, I'd need to reach over to press buttons on the right-hand side of the keyboard, whereas on this keyboard everything is easily accessible in my left hand at the click of a button. The holding down of the key to access a layer is only momentary. A fraction of a second. It doesn't interfere with gameplay. And the duration you need to hold a button to access a layer is also even customisable. Overall, customisability on these keyboards is insane and ZSA are constantly updating the software to include more customisability. I bought the Ergodox EZ 5 years ago and there's been so many major updates since then, such as tap-dance, built-in macros, combos, etc. ZSA's customer service is also top-notch. With any issues I've had, they've been responsive and helpful. I could not recomend ZSA's products and services more. I'd recommend watching reviews of the other keyboards to find out more about the software. Then decide later which form factor you want, because that's the main thing that differentiates all these boards -- although I do think the younger Moonlander and Voyager boards have more memory than my old Ergodox.
