Koyanskaya of the Dark (Hence forth refered to as KoD) is....a interesting and strong Servant, but one that can be passed up on if you already have the like of Morgan, Melusine, Space Ishtar, or even a sufficiently NP Lv Koyanskaya of the Light if you want to REALLY compress roles in your Chaldea (depending on your budget), or if you DON'T have a Oberon. She absolutely needs DKS AND Oberon to do the easiest Buster Tri-Loops, so if you don't have your own KoL and Obby then her darker half become a whole lot less enticing for mid-to-high power accounts. HOWEVER, if a given account is quite low on power (IE You only have a Welfare Waver and Starter Helena to work with at the get go, for example), the KoD suddenly wraps around to being great again since her semi-support capabilities will be of great aid and she can easily flex into a Farming or Buster Crit Role. At the very least she can give 20% NP Charge and Buster Damage Up and 2 Levels of Overcharge to ALL Servants (Well, the Overcharge is only ST, but that part works on ALL Servants) when her Skills are at Lv 1, making her somewhat like Ozymandias in that regard. In regards to the conditional Attack and Defense Buff on her S2, their are honestly not a lot of targets that fully synergize with it AND her S1, and that pool shrinks even further if we take out all the Limited Servants. For shake of completion, however, of the Limited Lot Kingprotea, Ivan, Ibuki, and Melusine are probably her best targets in the solo attacker role, while herself, Oberon, and KoL are the next tier if you don't mind running double attacker comps with her. For the non-Limited, Tam Cat has some good partial synergy between her Deck and Skills, Jaguar Warrior is great but Story Locked, but the best one imo is actually Asterious, humorously enough. Between his NP and buffs and hers, he becomes borderline invincible juggernaut 3 turns out of 7, and only mostly invincible the rest of the time, and her charge acceleration helps get to his NP without a Charge CE and therefore can afford to run Crit CEs or stuff like 2030s or Prisma Cosmos. Double KoD and Asterious is perhaps not the best comp out there, but it's one of the more fun and efficient ones for low power accounts to endure Story Fights and the occasional CQ. On her own merits as a Farmer, she's quite good WHEN she's farming Earth Attribute or Beast Trait Enemies, as that is when her NP's Special Attack Mod and/or her Special Attack Mod Passive is active, but outside that she's decidedly worse than conventional Class Advantage farming or throwing a Zerk at the problem. Furthermore she competes with Eresh in the Earth Killer Roll, which she has pseudo ramping NP through her S3's interaction with her NP and a kick ass Mana Burst/NP Battery for Waves 2/3. Eresh has the attack stat of a potato that can't be fixed by her Lancer ATK Mod, though, KoD has vastly higher Wave 3 NP Damage if we account for DKS and Oberon, and can be taken to virtually any node due to being both a Foreigner and Beast Attribute Servant. The point, though, is that if you already have an Eresh then you have even more of a reason not to get KoD unless you intended to use both in conjunction. I haven't mentioned her S3, however, which is quite notable in that is actually gives her a substantial Crit Buff and Invul pierce for 3 turns on a 6 turn CD at max rank. Now this won't make her the next Super Orion or anything, but combined with her other buffs she can become an extremely formidable Critter, especially following a NP or backed up with a Van Gogh or two. She's actually unique in this regard as a Foreigner, as the rest of her Class either doesn't have Crit Buffs built into their Kits, only have them for a single turn (MHXAF), or need to NP in order to get them (Van Gogh). Which is strange, consider her Class has among the highest Star Weight alongside Riders and Archers, but chalk that up to DW design team being unnecessarily antsy about giving the Outer Gods access to easy on demand Crit Damage. To sum up my feelings on KoD, I say she's decently powerful and useful no matter what, but only truly shines if you either have an account that fully cater to her Farming and Buster Crit Roles, or have such a low power account that her semi-support side becomes a Outer God sent. Otherwise, she'll get outshined by the likes of Space Ishtar, Morgan, and Ajurna Alter in Class Agnostic Buster Farming, Melusine in general (Though that's true for just about any Buster Servant these days), and the likes of Caster Cu and EMIYA in lower Cost and more flexible DKS comps. In many ways she feels like a scaled back but more generous version of Ajurna Alter when she's hitting Earth mobs, and hits like him when she's Critting with all her buffs attack following a NP. Overall, she's great in my eyes, but I can also say she can be skipped if you already have her roles covered or you're on a budget and can't afford to dedicate yourself to her.

UPDATE: With a native Oberon, it's possible to do Double KoD with him if everyone of them has maxed out append batts, or a plugsuit Waver to fill in that missing charge. Not the strongest comp around, but it's still a relatively cheap and moderately powerful comp that only requires her and Oberon. Furthermore you can technically do a silly/effective Crit Farming Comp with her and Double Gogh (or Double KoD and a Gogh, or just a single KoD w/ Friend Gogh if you're willing to plugsuit another Charge Support in to fill in the gaps) if you have a 2030 or two lying about, but this is such a meme comp that i only recommend doing it for the lulz or you literally don't have better options for farming. It does have the benefit of being FAR more applicable in CQs or Boss Fights, however, so keep it in mind for those scenarios....

I legitimately don't know what to think of this servant. I think it's clear she's good as a DPS, but I don't know if she pulls her weight as a support. First skill is good, moving on. Second skill has problems. It has way too long of a cooldown for what it's doing. You could even justify it being a 5 turn cooldown TBH. Only one instance of overcharge buffing and 5 stars per buster cards is very stingy for a 7 turn cooldown. The conditional 30% attack and defense, while nice, is a conditional trait only usable by 12 servants in the game (buster NP units with animal characteristics). Even then, 30% buster X 30% attack for 3 turns isn't earth shattering. Third skill is purely selfish, but good at its job with possibly a usable DOT, imagine that (also procs on NP thank God). She seems to be designed to be a strong DPS first, and a support as a distant second. Problem is, Koyanskaya of Light is equal parts DPS and support, and possibly even stronger as a DPS than her dark version, so that's just disappointing, and nothing to be hyped about. I'm thinking she's a solid, but not fantastic unit.

Upon seeing other videos, she's much better than I thought. I thought that the attack and def buff were targeted. They aren't. It's party wide. The star gen and overcharge are what's targeted. She can buff up herself and other animal servants, allowing herself and the buster animal servants tear into their enemies. Still more on the niche side, and her second skill shouldn't be a 7 turn cooldown, but she's probably really, really good.

I had almost the exact same reaction as ZTL to Koyanskaya of the Dark - I was initially unimpressed, until I began experimenting with her. Her damage output when she exploits her bonuses is crazy - she's a sort of super-Taikobou who can act as both a secondary support or a primary damage dealer. You can do some crazy team comps with her, such as Double Koyan Dark + Taikoubou; Double Koyan Dark + Oberon; or Koyan Dark + Morgan + Oberon. You don't need NP charge cards with any of these comps as long as you have the mana loading skill unlocked, though to use Morgan you would need her Mana Loading skill at 10 and for some of them you might need to bring the Beni-enma New Year's Mystic Code or Mage's Association Mystic Code. If you have the supports to handle Koyan Dark, she's definitely a quality addition to the lineup.

It's because she is. As of now, her most distinctive usage would be some Nerofest-ish event that asks for DoTs to defeat a boss. She sucks at NP Damage (non improved NP and lack of advantages does that, even more when she can't really dupe her skills besides duping her 30% Buster at t3).

@@engrel Harsh, but not entirely untrue. Koyan is great against Earths, good as a Buster Critting, but she doesn't outpreform existing Extra Class Servants or Buster Crit Memes in those roles. She's an easy skip if you don't like her and have those options. Once/if she gets a NP Damage Upgrade, though, she'll probably become more competitive, though I rather see her S1 being upgraded to a full 50% Battery or her S3 being upgraded to give her 20% NP first (if ever).

Dark Koyan isn’t broken. She’s really good but not broken. Her NP damage at NP1 (especially when not against her niche) is poopoo af. Like basically Kiara levels. If u pair her with her other self she becomes a lot better, but she does still need help to make her np strong. On the other hand she has every kind of buff in the game on her own kit. She’s a great debuff servant, a great crit servant, a great buster servant, and even a good semi-support. And against her niche, her NP damage isn’t bad. I just wish Gil gets a crit buff some day. All these new servants have every kind of utility shoved into their kits meanwhile Gil (a crit servant) doesn’t even have his own crit buff while Emiya has a 100% 3 turn crit buff and Super Orion can do more crit damage ALONE than Gil can with 2 merlins and a Koyan. Give the man a crit buff. It wouldn’t even affect his NP damage, it would just give him a little more utility and flexibility with supports.

While I agree that a crit up would be great for gil, and they should give him one, the comparison with super orion is incorrect. Orion NEEDS to deal huge amounts of dmg with his normal attacks as his np does not deal damage. And if you really want to make the comparison, and say orion can do stuff gil cant, gil also does so many things that super orion cant. Eg: farming, aoe boss killing etc. Emiyas np is nowhere near as powerful as gil. So having a crit buff is a tad more essential to him as well. Gil is built around his np and he does so much dmg with that, its mostly enough to deal with most stuff except lancer enemies and his face cards still hit for good damage. Now with all that said, I do agree a crit up would be good for him as it could stack with his passive, albeit not exactly very essential. He is still very flexible without it. Post koyan and obe, gil can 3t farm almost all nodes except lancer. Heck Im 3 turning with him on Na today and I only have an np1 gil. He is ridiculously good even to this day on JP to the point that its shocking to me that people still try to look for ways to bring him down. What WOULD be nice would be a hard survival skill although I get that they didn't give him one possibly for balancing purposes. But now when every other servant is getting upgraded, I do feel he should get it too. Imo its quite possible he gets an upgrade soon as they have been upgrading a lot of early game servants..

But Narita isn’t gonna finish FsF anytime soon and he refuses to let anyone use his characters for anything, which is a real dick move since he’s working on like 4 other series at the same time and he’s focusing on those way more. At this rate Gil won’t be buffed for another 7 years. And idk if the game will even be around in 7 years. Also I’d rather gil have a crit buff than a defensive buff. Yeah in lore he’s quite strong defensively and he can summon shield NPs able to block almost anything. But he’s known for being a ruthless attacker, and a crit buff that actually would let his Gate of Babylon normal attacks do some real damage , which would be more in line with him. Also as an alternative to the crit buff I would have his NP pierce defense and invul. Ideally it would be ON the np but I’d be fine with having it on a skill as well for more flexibility. Because Ea is supposed to be the strongest NP humans ever get their hands on, but instead it can be evaded and blocked by any servant with a hit of hard defense. But again we’re not gonna get that any time soon. I’d really love a buster buff even more, but then people would rage and call him OP even though morgan and arjuna alter already beat him in his own niche. He’s only better than them against saber servants. Aside from that they outdamage him in everything. And you don’t often fight numerous saber enemies at once so you’d use an ST archer for most single saber servants. Gil’s niche may be decently big but the times when he’s the absolute best choice for a fight are incredibly few and far between. Whereas morgan is the best choice for a fight quite often.

@@Zeke1460 Id disagree with that wholeheartedly. Aa and morgan, while being really good, aren't the best at survival and aa cant spam his np very well. Yes you can overcome that with a good support, yes they can kill things really fast before they get killed but lots of times one stray crit is all it takes to put them down. Lets face it, they're not cu alter when it it comes to survival (and yes i know comparing them is wrong because each serves a different purpose. Im just saying their survivability isnt the greatest). Yes gil dosent have hard survival skills either but he doesn't take increased dmg from most things. Yes morgan is good at np spamming but her np dmg modifier is 300% with her anti human sp and anti kotr added to it with her thirsting charisma atk up and def down. Gils damage modifier is 400% with 30% np str up accentuated by 150% multiplicative sp atk vs servants who constitute most farming and cq's anyway. If you take oberon into consideration, whom you can borrow from a friend if you don't get him, his np str up buff ALONE becomes 120%. Now multiply that with his buster buff and gils atk up, you get seriously good dmg. His dmg is really high even at np 1 and I can pull off over 235k NEUTRAL dmg with my np1 gil WITHOUT merlin and without a black grail (this is on Na btw where we don't have koyan and obe yet). Yes they can outdamage him but his damage is still respectable enough and he can compensate for the loss in damage by attracting crit stars and spamming his np REALLY fast. Most farming quests end with servants so unless you are dealing with lancers, you won't need anyone else. The only time anyone would think gil dosen't have good enough damage is if they are really bad at the game. There is a reason why he is still rated highly on JP and why we see min turn clears with him even to this day even with his "outdated" kit. Tho one thing I do agree with is that a buster buff or his np ignoring def and invincible would be ideal and lore friendly as well. Buster buff would stack multiplicatively with his np str up, atk up and sp atk so it would fit in very nicely.

@@ahreaper look mate idgaf what kind of buff they give him. Whether it’s a crit buff, a pierce-invul/def, or preferrably a buster buff. I just want him to get buffed already. But like I said before it’s very unlikely to happen. They’re waiting on an FsF collab that’s not gonna happen for at least 7 years at which point the game will either be dead or I’ll have stopped playing. This isn’t certain but it’s my best guess since they just REFUSE to buff him. Despite giving all the newer servants multiplicatively stacking buffs that apply to their entire kit and not just their NP. Bc Gil’s damage is entirely on his np. Which doesn’t line up with his lore at all. He was an absolute monster who killed Heracles without using Ea at all. But all that amounts to is a 21% flat damage buff that even quetz now has a better version of. And Drake’s golden rule is now better than Gil’s bc it gives buster up. Btw: Quetz has Gil’s kit but better. 21% charisma WITH a star bomb. A Guts and buster buff on her second skill (30% for 3 turns), and a battery plus star absorb (same as gil’s) WITH an additional 50% crit buff for 3 turns on her last skill. Her skillset is EXACTLY what gil needs. But nooooooo. Because 21% total atk up TOTALLY fits the lavish dripping golden king of heroes monster who killed herc without Ea. Seriously wtf are they thinking? If nasu played the game he would cry seeing his boy get done like this

Yup. 100% agree with that sentiment. While gil outvalues quetz overall, her kit would fit him very well. Sure, give the faker 4 fucking upgrades. Sure give fionn, who no one cared about 3 upgrades. But the og king of heroes who literally beat out muramasa and ranked 3 on the jp popularity poll? Naaah mate. You, you get stuck with 2 and you will like it. Deal with it. We're too busy buffing thot nuns and all the bloody artoria faces to care about you (and yes ik its because waifu do generally tend to sell more).

If you use oberon and koyanskayaB on the same team, you can buster chain any order of then. Using koyaB first give buster def down so oberon can hit them harder Using oberon first is no problem for koyaB as she can ignore invincibility

Tested her with himiko and morgan... morgan pull out a 100k of damage with one buster attack. All of them are lvl 1 np Plus, her third skill can curse the hell out the target, 12k if you are soloing in first turn Edit: you can reach 200k with koyans of light with hans skill one

Alters on the other hand, are more like what ifs or alternate history versions of servants. Like Jeanne Alter being what Gilles thinks Jeanne should be and Emiya Alter being a darker And edgier Emiya from a different timeline. Although cases like Atalante Alter are a bit more complicated, because rather than just being an alternate timeline version Atalante, because she could just transform into her Alter form via Agrius Metamorphosis. In which case idk what is going on with fate. She really isn't broken mate. Good, but not broken. For one, she is from one of the, if not, the worst class in the game. Secondly, you keep talking about the servant with her skills in combination with other meta supports to make her sound better than she is. Seems like she would thrive in a triple Koyanskaya team, but is far from ideal as a support servant. As a foreigner, she will always have the issue of absorbing others' stars and she has no skills to prevent this. Her first skill only worsens the star situation. If the main DPS doesn't have the kemono trait (only 14 buster servants in JP have the trait), her 2nd skill is worthless. Although you gave it a lot of lip service, np overcharge is honestly not that great of an effect. Rarely if ever have I been in a CQ and wished I had more overcharge, and in the times that I did, I wouldn't have replaced anyone I brought to the fight in favour of her. Overcharge isn't a big deal unless you go out of your way to build around it. Tbh if you wanted a support you are better off with a Chiron. Even as a DPS you need to consider if she's worth bringing over someone with real class advantage.

Look not to say that when a new servant does something impressive it isn't worth praising but I'm honestly getting tired of everyone using "broken" as a description where that should only be the case if nothing beats what any other character can do. Like if castorias buffs had buff removal protection for 3 turns instead of threat to humanity buff that's only ever in certain situations then she'd be broken. How many times have you had to describe a servant as broken in just the past 3 months alone? I mean hell people were just saying that about the caster for the last event. So in the future perhaps we can try to stop saying broken for every servant that comes out since broken would mean that's all you need. No other servant is necessary.

@@arahaitham123 if the a servant can be countered, beaten, or even prevented from utilizing their kit then by definition they aren't broken. Castoria only remains seen that way cause fgo hasn't decided to do anything outside of the actual broken mechanic of CQ or Boss abilities that by pass all effects to hit your team. Her absolute protection only works from damage. Much like actual invulnerability you are not immune to potential debuffs. Castoria is also not the end all solution as you must also remember part of the challenge is when the game throws a wrench into the obvious strategy just like how double skadi or double Merlin's wasn't always the answer to clear a CQ or boss.

And even then depending on how fgo wants to up its difficulty they can and likely will set up counters to those that over rely on castoria def and buffs much like how many do with previous supposed broken servants who I'm sure people will say for the next 3 servants to appear

well you have 2 good buster servants so I think you should level them up fully and then use servants that can boost their np gauge very fast and also buff their overall damage. Hans, waiver and light koyanskayacan increase their np gauge. Servnats like shakespare, leonidas and koyan of the light can increase their buster servants. Also, don't forget that you can also boost their np by increasing their np gain so so they can get their np's out faster.

Afaik paid SQ transfers fine. I literally bought a pack today on IOS, switched to Android, and have no issues at all. Been doing that for ages never had a problem.

For Non-Limited Servants, Asterious is the best option to support with KoD, funnily enough. In a DKoD comp he'd get 100% Defense up and 90% ATK between all there buffs for 3/7 Turns, his own 30% ATK and 40% Defense for 3/5, and 60% NP Charge every 6 turns, which he can instantly NP off any 40 - 50% Charge CE from the get go. Star Gen and Critting also isn't a problem since everyone's Busters gen 10 Stars due to KoD's buffs and you can make up the difference in Star Gen CEs, MC Star Bombs, or the occasional Brave Chain, and he has a Buster Amp and Star Absorb in his S3 to guarantee a Crit Turn. Pretty cool comp to run, all things told.

Koyanskaya of the Light enables Buster looping with her 50% battery and 2 turn CDR (which turns into 4 turns when you run Double Koyanskaya, and synergizes well with battery servants). Farming is 95% of the game so hands down it's Light.
