I run the Meroca 2 piston brake - think they are called M800 - with Clark single piece rotors (180 f, 160 r). The Meroca brakes came pre assembled but were definitely better after fresh oil and a good bleed. I'd be interested to see a back to back with them to see how they stack up with the 4 piston calipers to see if it's a worthwhile upgrade to swap the 2 pot for 4 pot. .

WolfTicK !!!! Great review. I picked up a couple of sets for 2 projects I have going on for my son and I and also wanted to see how they compare to my SRAM GUIDES as they are also 4 piston. One thing you may have noticed is they come with Metallic pads while most budget brakes come with RESIN pads. Resin pads do have better initial bite but don't hold up very well to heat. Metallic pads on the other hand work better with heat and dont fade as fast, which is what is sounds like you were describing . BTW..I ride motorcycles too!! But I still like rear brake on the right. My brain knows the difference between Bikes and Motorcycles :) Love you guys. Always a entertaining Friday Vid!

The rotors are designed to have some movement just like floating motorcycle disc brake rotors. I can’t speak for these specifically because I don’t have them in front of me but typically the “rotor buttons” have a thin wavy washer under them so that that they are not tight like a fastener, allowing the outer disc to move separately from the inner mounting disc so that it “floats” and stays true as it spins through the pads in the caliper.
@WOLFTICKVIDEOS3 жыл бұрын

They use floating rotors on sport bikes (motorcycles). Benefit is that the braking is still consistent with slightly bent rotors. For the rear, they make different adapters for larger rotors than the front adapters, so you have to check for that. I have Jerry rigged the brakes with spacers and that works fine too, but I wouldn't go too extreme with it.

11:00 the saddle might bend if it's that far back. Also the bend of the rails at the front might get damaged too. The saddle should never be out of the lines, not all saddles have it, but limit usually is 1cm/10mm away from the bend on each side. But still if you Slam but into the saddle or just are heavy you might bend the rails anyway.

As much as I like riding xc bikes, not sure would I feel comfortable and safe with down angle of stem. As for brake setups, Brits use wrong left-right position of brake levers. Please try to do a long term review on those I like what you said about these and I'm in the market for 4 piston brakes.... The levers are wierd and stick out far i have short fingers so i always set my brake levers to only be pulled by 1 finger so i set them over to where its natural to grab the tip of the lever with my index finger i love having 4 fingers at all times on my grips so i wonder if they could be adjusted to come in a little closer... I bet those brakes wear in in 2-3 more rides when a good chunk of that brake pad marries to the rotor it didn't seem like the calipers has heat spreaders wonder how far you could go before they get to the point they wouldn't work well.... Thank God no crashes but i did catch you almost go off that trail and almost go down what looks like a cliff stay safe cya Tuesday

I bought these Meroca 4 Pistons to replace Shimano MT - 201 2 Pots... they are 4 Pistons.. are fiddly to set up and get all 4 Pistons to work evenly.. BUT they work.. here in Cape Town we have 30'C or higher and dusty rocky trails with brutal bike breakers.. and these things have stopped me and save my ass.. I can say my MT - 201 were fine.. but these cheapies do the trick.. I took them apart to clean and they have stainless steel pistons too.. very good for cheap upgrade for everyday users that don't have Magura or Sram Or shimano Xtr money.

So if yours are similar to the sound of the Shimano, possibly??? They are pretty nice.

all new brakes and or rotors start mushy in the beginning it's because they use a type of silicon to keep them from oxidizing while in storage, they make thousands at a time, best idea is to wipe the rotors down with 91% alcohol before first use

Appreciate the tip man:) We always bed them in.....And in most cases we wipe em down:)

You were moving good. People upgrade to 4 pistons for added modulation and power. Maybe the feeling you are experiencing is just having a more linear increase in power. But 2 finger levers on a 4 piston setup is a head scratcher. What is the point of 4 piston brakes if you need two fingers to use them? That just takes more fingers off your grips and you get less control, more arm pump etc.
@WOLFTICKVIDEOS3 жыл бұрын
Very good point, they are strong and feel very good, but you are right....If you have to double finger them?? Hmmm lol

Hi, thanks for this your good test of these Meroca. Given that it is not very easy for an Italian who knows english language to fully understand the words spoken by an American during a downhill bike ride 😬, would you recommend the purchase of these brakes considering their quality / price ratio compared to Shimano or Magura? thanks for your kind reply. Fabrizio

6:10 these like the their frames are Scott copies. Mabye they are the ones who actually make the Scott parts who knows, but their frames are just little bit different. The bad thing with this bar is you can't adjust back and up sweep, so thi shas to suit the headangle and you perfectly, if it does not it will be horrible. So this is a race bike only setup. Not a swap to any bike setup.
