Totally disagree. I heard Americans use nearest and closest interchangeably frequently than usual. But, nearest has a sense of urgency than closest when asking the proximity of a restroom. Immediate action separates the two. I need to go right away as in nearest restroom. I just want to know where it is but no need to go for now as in closest restroom.
