As a local I won't go there to eat at tourist price. Just walk around to feel the atmosphere is fine for me. Even the beef noodles doesn't taste as good as those days and very little liu.

@@malaysiafood328actually you missed out Sister Drunken Noodles stall which opens only in the day. Their pork noodles are not the same as the mainstream and if I'm not wrong, you have not tried something like theirs. Their drunken noodles is excellent. Every part of the pork organs are cook to perfect texture and soft. They have been overlook by many who thinks is only for tourist.

Thank you Elmo. Loved your video as always. Your intro is always interesting although not related to the food reviews, I love the nostalgia and the trouble you go to to set the associated materials to make the video. Thanks for the effort. Tha place sure has changed since I was last there over 35 years ago. As lively as ever. Thanks once again👏👏👏👍👍👍🥰

Jln Alor has changed so much compared to back in the day when i was " lepaking" there. There used to be a charsiew / siew yuk stall ran by a retired chinese school headmaster , he was very generous , he charges only for the meat , rice & soup is FOC, his rational was that people need to survive by giving free rice they can eat as much as they want all they need to to is pay for his meat which was very generous in portion while enjoing his oldies . That wong ah wah chicken wing , i remembered watching the ad in cinemas at sg wang . How it has changed , thank you so much for showing us the " new " jln alor. I guess we should be making a trip there soon . Thank you !

The pushy (& sometimes grabby) touts really put me off Jalan Alor [thank heavens I stumbled upon Hutong soon after]. As a movie fan, loved the nostalgic visit to the heydays of the stand-alone cinemas (eg. the [shell of the] Rex cinema was recently featured on the Finale episode of this year's Amazing Race Australia)

What a bustling bright and gourmet food paradise at Jalan Alor - all lined up to be tested and tried !!! Can't help but also to name 2 favorite Stars (Actors) during my heydays watching movies at cinemas. Ti Lung and Wang Yu - One always play the role as the bad guy and the other as the hero and I will always end up disguising as the one arm swordman. Great illustration from Elmo on those days. Yatt Lau! Mou Tak Deng! Glad that Wong Ah Wah's chicken wings still retains it's authenticity and all the dishes there seem to also taste good and reasonably priced. Very interesting (especially for tourist) to see so many different types of snacks , drinks and goodies available there and the scene there makes it feel like I'm at Jubilee park (Ipoh) during the night. 😉 I guess Danny had a great time and savoring all the "Malaysian taste goodies" at Jalan Alor. As mentioned - I was surprised at how Jalan Alor looks nowadays as compared to say 35-40 years ago. Thank you Elmo for another good food haunting episode. 👌👌👌

I am still a old-school person who will go to cineplexes to watch certain movies although many or most of my peers would watch Netflix. On another note, you'd obviously mentioned the best restaurant in Jalan Alor that doesn't need to try to attract customers, Wong Ah Wah. Your video spoke to me on your behalf

The Jalan Alor food street really surpr me. the lights are bright and neat. ther are all kinds of food and drink. and ther are also street performers and music performances. become more exciting as the night goes by. I believe Elmo Lee. & Danny Loke. they all like to watch the drama directed by Li Hanxiang.? 🇲🇾 🤝 🇸🇬 😅😂🤣 .

Ah, Sensei, that is a lot. 1) I've often stared at the Odeon Cinema and wondered about the story there. And, Cathay, I knew that building but didn't know it had been the Cathay. And, yes, SB had to build cinemas in as many places as possible since there was no distribution without them. Seeing their remnants throughout Malaysia is just one of the interesting things to look out for in Kuala Lumpur and secondary cities. You should do general history tours of Kuala Lumpur; I really wanted one when I was there. 2) In Taipei, Lehua (樂華) night market was a good traditional one a few years ago. Good stinky doufu, but best doufu was on Guangzhou Street NW of Longshan Temple. 3) Jalan Alor ... well, double like. My favorite was one of the smaller ones (3 storefronts?), but most of the older shops have similar menus. I'll take your word for it on Wong Ah Wah and go there again on my next trip. I assume Wok Hei is the wok taste, like in vegetable dishes sometimes? Thank you so much.

Just to add a little fun. Long time ago, I went to Cathay cinema to watch the new King Kong movie. All the tickets were sold out except the first row. Having no choice, I bought the ticket and found myself sitting nearest to the screen. Wow, that was the biggest and loudest King Kong I ever saw. But after that, I got giddy and my neck ached. 🤣🤣🤣

I think Jln Alor should change name to Jln Thai, so many Thai foods there🤭😅But promegranate juice in Bangkok more more cheaper than here, RM20 per bottle of juice is too much crazy expensive, i think most of the restaurant in here their target is the tourist from around the world, so they marked up the price and they think this is nothing wrong for them 😅😅

Used to have my meals in Jalan Alor when I was working nearby there about 20 years ago. Foods sold in Alor were expensive, to say nothing of today I gather! One of the pork noodles stall, Teochew braised duck rice and 牛记 beef ball noodles were my favourites stalls to patronize back then, but I was disappointed by牛记 quite many a times - wanton noodles cooked by their Burmese staff often underdone! Wong Ah Wah's chicken Wing was finger licking good no doubt, rarely matched by other vendors in Klang Valley in my opinion.
